o.k some more from today with Shay again & Radar (Koolie X, Rescue)
(these cattle are dog smart, bossy/headstrong & not skittish so been using them to teach the dog's to persit & use bark or force on command in holding & moving the mob working both head & heel on command. Both dogs actually got clobbered *kicked* by one particular cow & I was really impressed to see in both cases immediately back on their feet & without fear nor hestitation back in there until recalled to check for injury).
Here's Shay starting to assert authority with confidence

Shay & Radar working together containing the cattle.
& bringing the cattle on command

I'd really like comments....

I can't talk from experience as I'm only familar with sheep but they do look keen and they aren't backing down.
I have seen how you have worked with my guys and I never thought they would, so you must be doing something right, what ever it is keep doing it.

Thanks TJ. They are the most controllable & responsive dogs I've worked with, great recall & can shut them down with a firm 'Heel' regardless how absorbed in a beast they are. Also impressed in speed & ability to move through the terrain of Inda TJ, just amazing to watch.
I am highly impressed with Shay, she is just magic already.

Hi Mushoz
Congratulations on making so much progress with multiple dogs! I would say those cattle are ideal for your purpose as they are young enough to not have too much self confidence and take the dogs on seriously like some old cows would, but old enough to give the dogs the full impression of what working cattle involves. It looks like the dogs have really found themselves and what their instincts are bred for. Well done. Great photos also.
And TJ, did you think you would ever hear yourself say you are familiar with sheep....

again great pic's your dogs look to be working very well with strong drive and self confidence you should give your self a pat on the back. and give them dogs a big bone they have done well. i am hoping spice will be like that one day she is now herding ok but lacks confidence still and young Quin had more drive in him but was holding back from the sheep which i could not work out why until i rang his breeder and was told that he had worked the cattle and goats but no dogs were allowed to touch their pet sheep and he had a potty lamb as a mate they use to sleep together.

Thanks guys, Silhouette thanks for the comments re the cattle as I wanted dogs to earn their confidence early without using young flighty cattle that give false confidence & these ones have become dog smart & offer a good challenge.
I haven't worked stock dogs since a child & these are the first cattle (& other stock) dogs I've fully trained from scratch & I'm having a ball as I like completely versatile dogs that can work paddock, yard, head & heel & be smart & responsive.
I am keen to start them on sheep shortly.

Sounds like the koolie is the ideal dog for your, if nothing else they are versatile workers. Would you mind if we used some of your photos for club promotion? We don't have a lot of working cattle as yet and the setting has made them even better.
LH..nice trees....

Sure.
I actually have to take some more professional ones tomorrow so I'll post them up too if you want to use them.

Did I say familar.
Sorry Silhouette, should have said only stock I've survived so far, it is still early days.
We will try to get sheep shots for the album at the two workshops in Bobara in August and September.
Mushoz will be attending as will many other Koolie workers and us.
So let the good times roll.
