great pic,s. so fill us in did she work softer on the sheep then the cattle. i don't need to ask if she worked well or not i can see that she did. Shay is a lovely looking dog and handy to by the looks of her.

The sheep are actually very tame oddly enough so she first had a bit of trouble (& got confused) as the sheep wouldn't respond at all to her soft presence & bark so I started asking her to use force to get the sheep a bit wary of her & then then started using better bark & threat but minimal physical force only when she was required so I was impressed.

I don't mind if the sheep are a bit stubborn & tame as I have a couple of starters that are stil making mistakes so the sheep pretty much just stand there & not bothered by dogs. We don't have access to a number of sheep & primarily use for cattle so tamer sheep to me provides a more calmer training environment.

We are altnerating from Cattle to Ducks to Sheep during our training sessions, as my own little training means to keep the dogs 'appropriate' to the stock they are working.

Shay is just a ripper of a dog, versatile & smart, a little command stubborn but at not 12mths old that will come. She is what I consider an allrounder so am thankful to have her.

you have been so lucky to find such a great little dog i am green with envy. spice is a very soft dog and will only be good with sheep i think but i am hoping for a lot more out of Quin it was hard to tell at our first workshop as Quin took a bit to get going. but i found out that his breeder would not let any of her dogs touch her pet sheep and Quin had a lamb as a mate that he would sleep with so that explained why he was not interested in working them at first but he came good at the end of the workshop. i am hoping to see improvement in both dogs at our next workshop in October

A workshop in October, I had better put that on the Calendar.

Thanks Royalla, yes I do like Shay & I will be contacting Jack for another from any litter from the same line.
Tjukurpa
I believe Jack may not have that blooline any more, but you can deal with the orginal breeder of his line, Hunterslea Koolies, drop us a line or check the club site for her details, Huntersler working lines were bred for cattle in the high country simalar to where you live, her family has been breeding Koolies since 1945 terrific source for Koolie information.

Admin: when I get all the info I promise I will try to enter it on the calendar, but I will not be held accountable for blowing anything up!!!!

Why would I shoot Spice Royalla???

I'm happy with how the boys inda & obe are coming along, for late starters especially Obe as that pic was his first real attempt at any stock.
Tjukurpa
royalla you know everyone knows you love that dog and that she is really coming into her own, we have the picture to prove it.
love the photos and love the fact the guys are doing finaly what they were bred for.

Thanks

that was only a joke about shooting Spice but i don't think many people would not put up with her hole digging, crying and leg hugging when she gets worried or scared about the silliest little things. she is not your normal dog in many ways. but i love her and i would not trade her for the world.

I'm sure she has absolutely nothing on some of our Siberian Huskies Royalla, in regards to hole digging & vocalising.
