Gidday All

We are new to this forum. We are Lachlan & Tracey Story and we live in Mockinya south of Horsham in Victoria Australia.

We have had Koolies since the late seventies and untill recently have never been without one. Our most recent pup, Tossal, a really promising dog, was killed by a snake which we found devistating. We are in the process of purchasing another (two?) pups. My son has a Koolie, Chloie who is a divine little dog and was the half sister to Toby, the pup we lost.

When we started with Koolies there was so little information and nobody knew what we were talking about. It is great to se the breed being recognised and stabalised.

We look forward to participating in the Koolie community and promoting these wonderfull dogs. I have never seen a Koolie with a mean bone in its body.

If anyone is ever in the area we would welcome a visit. Plenty of room for owners and their dogs

Kind Regards

Lockie & Tracey

Hi & welcome to the forum!

Oh how sad about your pup, it is always sad & snakes are something I fear terribly during the summer months with our dogs.

Hope you can share about your new pups with us.

welcome2.gif Hey lockie so great to see you guys here, I hope you find your next Koolies real soon We look forward to seeing the photo.
After your call the other day I noticed that one of my deaf boys had been barking for nearly 30 minutes, now my deaf twins do sometimes carry on, but they settle quickly and quiet down, but this was so persistent and so long I just had to go see what he was on about.
Good thing I did!
Seems a very pretty Tiger snake had wondered into their paddock and Dobbie was keeping it trapped up against the fence, now I know he was very silly but you know I couldn't stop myself from being a little proud, he wasn't jumping at it, in fact he was some distance away from it, just barking to alert me.
Once I was on the scene he gave me this huge grin and took off, tail in the air.
I left the three foot where it seemed quite happy to remain and bolted around to the other gate, opened it, not surprised to find the Koolies were all waiting to come in, very happy to be away.
I went out to check the snake and saw it make a dash across the paddock for freedom only to be plagued by the Wattle birds and Magpies who frequent our place.
The last I saw of him was in the beak of a momma Maggie, heading out over the next doors property, hoping she had a good hold on the wiggler as she went.
Damdest thing I ever witness.
We’ve lost a couple of Koolies over the years to snake but on the whole my Koolies seem to be very wary and sense that snakes are not to be played with.
My Koolie bitch stopped and pointed to a snake I nearly stepped on and would have if I hadn’t seen her signal
Anyway I know your going to like being here, talk real soon

Welcome to the Forum!!

Sorry to hear of your loss ...

I have recently moved to snake country and it is a constant fear that one of my furkids will decide to make a toy of a snake. Fortunately I guess, our snakes come our at night (night tigers and red belly blacks), so I lock the family in the house at night. Poppie seems to know they are evil and will bark when she smells them. As they move in the ceiling (carpet snakes) she will track their progress looking up at the ceiling.

Anyway all the best with the newies!!

welcome2.gif Hi Lockie & Tracey

Welcome to the forum, it is great to see you here! Feel welcome to join in and be part of anything that takes your fancy. Of course any pics that you would like to post would be greatly admired.
Hope you find your special new friend soon. We had a visit to Horsham a couple of months ago, which was supposed to result in puppies, but not sure now whether we succeeded or not, only time will tell. Love that area though with the Grampians as a backdrop and all the lovely big red gums..and green grass! You are in the thick of a very koolie area there with some of the oldest known pure bloodlines in the district.

Hi Lockie & Tracey

So sorry to hear of your loss, we have lost 2 fur kids to snakes in the last 6 years 1 special dog (not koolie) and 1 special cat.

We are from Marnoo which is East of Horsham on the Wimmera Hwy, so great to know that there are others out there close by.

You will enjoy the forum I certainly do. Maybe we can meet up sometime.
How far from Horsham is Mockinya?

Hi all,

We are new to this forum. We are Matt Story & Shelly Ryan and we live in Childers Cove, South east of Warrnambool in Victoria Australia.

I have a Koolie, Chloie who is a charmer of a dog and was the half sister to Toby, my father's (Lachie) dog who they so recently lost.

I've known Koolies all my life as my parents have had them for years. never known a better breed of dog.

We look forward to getting involved with the Koolie community and promoting these wonderful dogs.

We are currently in the process of getting another Koolie pup, from the same litter my parents are getting their new pup from.
