cute dogs, such lovely kind faces!
RachelleBuck
Don't let the faces fool you, they can be real monsters!!!! Kelli has just grown up and has been good at everything she has ever done. Libby on the other hand has a number of issues, the worst being her agro towards other dogs!!! So if have any ideas on how to help her more I would be thanksful. I have been training her with ADT with a little success but I think it is genetic

Whats the history behind them, straight Koolie etc. sorry for my ignorance I just can't keep up atm with who owns who & what who is ROFL!

RachelleBuck
Don't worry I totally understand.
We were told Kelli is Border Collie x Koolie. I never saw her parents. Libby is Kelli's first born. Her father is my dad's dog Tim (also borderxkoolie, we saw his parents though)Kelli has only ever had one litter of puppies (too hard to hand them over to someone else) In our family we have kept 3 of Kelli's 6 puppies and sold the other puppies to great homes.

oh o.k, didn't want to put my foot in it by asking if they were x's.
RachelleBuck
Don't worry about putting you foot in it. They have been called ever breed under the sun at obedience. Kelpie crossy thingy's seem to be the most commond though

oh no I always manage to put my foot in it when it comes to Koolies, I've pulled foot from mouth when saying "thats a nice Koolie" when I know it's not pure but don't want to offend & they look at me stupid like I should know it's not pure & don't get I'm just being nice about it, or I say "what's he crossed with?" & people believe it's pure (or were sold it as pure) & look at me with daggers...so I try to play it safe.

I went through the same thing with my deafie Keira, people have running bets about what she is even after you tell them as they have no clue what a Koolie is, if they haven't heard or it/seen it then they try to pass it off as something else.

You can excuse people a little when they look at my solids & say nice Kelpie, I just smile & say 'well actually it's not' not that is does much good as again they don't know.

Welcome to the Koolie mission.
When faced with blank faces of confusion,(What's a Koolie??) or a concrete of determination to prove your wrong about it's breeding, just remember this is your chance to convert another misinformed poor creature who is struggling under the weight of a neglected education when it comes to the Koolie.
Just put your best smile on, best foot forward, hand out to shake and launch into all and everything you ever learned or are still learning, like most of us.
Flood them with invitations to membership, to registration, to the forum, to the Koolie Community.
And they will be either so impressed by your passion or running away before you draw your first breath, that it’s a win, win situation.
You got to talk about koolie and that's what we all love to do.

Whats the nicest though??? Having Koolies in the back of the ute & being pulled up by very old men that hobble over to ask where you got them from as they haven't seen Koolies in years & there is no greater dog on earth.

It's hard when you just have 1 or 2 & they don't look like what they expect a Koolie to look like, yet it's easier when you have a group of them that turns their quiery into curiousity.
