signthankspin.gif Thanks for all the big welcomes! And i LOVE these emoticon thingy's! California.gif

You are all in luck because i love taking photos and posting them, so you'll probably all get sick of looking at our lot in a short while!! denied.gif
The only thing is that i find it very hard to take a photo, ride a horse and work a dog at the same time, so mostly i get snap happy when we are about the yard or having relaxo time at the river! I will try and get some working photos, i know everyone loves to see them!

Matilda is 16months old. She has a very traditional Koolie look being a blue merle with one blue eye. She has a medium to long coat, that i clip in the summer to help her working up here in the heat and Burrs! She has a great nature and works both sheep and cattle, as well as our indian runner ducks! She is so koolie through and through! She LOVES WATER like no dog i've ever met and loves to be up on things, like the top of her kennel or on our outdoor setting! She has a great configuration, and has had so ever since she was a pup. The photos below show her at about 16wks and 12months, just before i clipped her in October!

Leroy Brown, (yes, bad bad,,,but not so much now he is heading towards 4!)
He's a great dog! He is mostly kelpie x smooth collie, i'll post you a photo of his mother one day. He is that dog that everyone who works with dogs hopes to find, he is totally dedicated to me and knows what i want from him before i ask most of the time. He has the best nature and loves to sneak a cuddle, especially from youg visitors! Anyone who says that you can spoil a working dog with too much love needs to meet him! I think it only motivates him to do more for you! I don't think that he will ever make a trialing dog, but he is a great paddock dog and handy in the yards. But takes instruction better from on top of a horse so paddocks are his main thing.

(My 8yr old cousin riding her pony with Leroy to help yard a few cows!)

Earl and Harry are both desexed and will never work a day in their lives! Unless someone takes on ball farming! Then Earl will be in that. Earl is 10 and is a one man's dog and that man happens to be my husband! He has had his share of successes as a high jumper at local shows when he was younger. He is a clever dog and very good at agility, although Cam has never competed him, beyond high jump. Harry was the ugly rescue cooliexx that no one wanted, and Cam decided he was to be his. He has a beautiful, yet timid nature dispite his looks! We take him with Tilly and Leroy to obedience training and he is doing very well!

Relax and enjoy your stay what part of the country do you hail from.
Anywhere near Qld or Sydney.

There's a group us going on a road trip from Vic through Sydney to Qld, doing workshops for sheep dog training, Agility, DNA collecting, registering and general catching up and saying hi.

Maybe our convoy will come by your place to say hi and get pics, we all love pics.

Anyone interested in joining up with the group,? we commence with the first(here in Elmore of five workshops to be held through April.

We are looking at being away for ten days, it is going to an awsome trip.

Drop us PM if you want to know more. cool.gif

well i think kelpie x smooth collie is a good mix if you get dogs the look like that. maybe the cattle scare Earl and Harry thats why they don't work sheep could be the answer for them we have a great trainer up here that i have watched get non working dogs work on day one of training, maybe you could join us in April at Durong it's going to be a great weekend. i have two dogs that will only work sheep and they don't think cattle are any to herd. your harry looks very much like my greyson do you know anything about his breeding?

Thanks for the advice, but we really don't care if Earl and Harry don't work. My husband is a fitter and not into stock work, and they are his dogs. Your right though i'm sure we could get them doing some stuff, but i would have to train them and then they would probably get attached to me more then Cam and that wouldn't be really fair on him. Earl is 10 now and with all the jumping he did when he was younger i fear he may get arthritis if we push him too hard in his later years. He's been such a great dog to Cam it would be awful to see him start to suffer.

Harry, i found out once we moved to town, was once called "Bullet" he is a coolie x pigdog, a boy called "Noodle" (yes i know with a name like that no wonder he dumped such a great dog!) accidently let his pig dog bitch breed with his old mans working dog, (which is a coolie, but i don't know its lines) This sort of tragedy happens all too often around here i'm afraid. Anyway, when Harry was just a few months old "Noodle" (head!) decided he was going to be too small to make a pig dog so he gave him to a drover passing through to try himm as a cattle dog (at 4 months old!) and told him he didn't want him back. Well the drover didn't like him so he tied him to a fence and left him! Someone found him and he ended up in rescue. He was so timid and scared that the lady who rescued him thought he might do better fostered with us because we only had the 3 dogs and they are all so friendly. We took him on with the original intention to let him settle, desex him then rehome him. The first two things went to plan, but Cam having taken Harry on and getting him out of his shell and fuctioning "normally" was too attached to him and fearful of him losing his trust in people if we let him go. So Cam adopted him and he has never looked back. It has been a great decision and being just a few months younger than Tilly they have become great friends!

RachelleBuck
That is a great story. You can see just by the photo's what a turn around he has made. He had such a hard start to life but is making up for it now!!!
Ellie's mum
Great photos. Your Matilda reminds me a little of my old bitch Sparky. Harry Koolie sure landed on his paws the day he arrived at your home what a wonderful ending to a sad start in life. As for Leroy Brown, he is such a handsome looking dog, I too have a soft spot for Kelpies. It looks like Leroy Brown will be the song of the week.

Welcome Koolarks,

Great dogs you have there. Tilly looks a bit similar to my youngest dog. I have two koolies - both rescue dogs - and I love 'em.

Those are such great photos of such gorgeous dogs, all of them, what a sweetie harry is.

I loved the last photo of all the dogs together, they look all so happy. You should enlarge it and frame it to put on your wall at home. A good family photo.

I bet Harry was pleased that someone like you guys came along to take care of him. It is a wonderful transformation to see a shy timid dog become a happy confident one.
