Ceejay
Okay I have missed obediance last week, and have not trained at all with my two girls for two weeks. They still out shone the class.

We did a bit of scent work tonight. Ceejay usually goes to another handler and it is usually Isla (she was teaching) so a new handler, Tracey had Ceejay. We had to stuff a small stuffed toy inside our shirts at the start of class. Near the end the teddies were placed in a ring and you had to go around to each one point and say "smell". Well I was not expecting Ceejay to succeed because it was not my smell but her handlers. Ceejay went round the ring and smelled including mine and kept going. When it came to her handlers toy she said "smell" Ceejay picked it up. I was gobsmacked.

Izzy did the ring around too and when it came to my stuffed toy she sniffed, snorted and lightly nosed it. Unreal, but get this folks mine were the only dogs that did it. There were labradors, labrodor crosses, a beagle cross and a golden retriever and they did not pick up on it.

The girls also were taught "over" Ceejay aced that because I have done a bit of flyball with her. Izzy picked that up second go around and got so very excited by it. Then through a hoop, Ceejay again aced that. Izzy not too sure but once I started getting the treats out she picked that up real quick.

The trainers again pulled me aside to make sure that I am going to continue as I have two very smart dogs, but Ceejay apparantly has that edge.

Yoohoo. I am so excited and going to start with the training again this week but I won't overdo it. I demonstrated the "smell" command to the OH tonight. I picked up a piece of paper and said "smell" they both came over and gave it a good sniff.

Just had to brag (sorry if I waffled on a bit) surprised1.gif

win.gif Well done! It's always nice to have the best dog on the day! I have a little trick i'll let you in on, but shhh...don't tell anyone! We do obedience and agility with our dogs, and if i want Leroy to really shine for the occasion i take Matilda out with him. Sound simple enough, Leroy was obviously my dog for a couple of years before i got Tilly, and even though he does love her, he still likes to show me that he is my "best" dog. LOL I love them both evenly but given any chance Leroy will go ten extra steps to show off if Tilly is around. You can not get a smarter, better behaved dog than Leroy when there's brownie points to be earned! dogwalk.gif

It sounds like you are going to have a lot of fun and success with your dogs! Enjoy beer.gif

Congratulations on an amazing night. Your dogs sure did you proud and you have every right to have a brag because what they did was amazing.

yes big congratulations to you and your very smart dogs. I do miss my agility and obediance, i tried to get some thing going here but they are all a bunch of country hicks and think of dogs as the things down the back on the chain and that's were it can stay

Awsome Cj
How cool that you get to learn these things at school.
We have only boring pacing and regimantal training, so I don't go.
I would if we did scent work we only get to do that when we track, now that's fun.
But you have to like getting up at 5am to work out.

Well done Ceejay
Keep up the good work. Next thing you will be trialling. Once you've got the bug that's it. What is it about some of the clubs. They dont like doing fun things. I have been teaching Gabby things at home so she aint bored. Ceejay your club sounds good doing different things like that
cheers

Yea it is fun, but the secret is, it is not a club. It is a private business and they really encourage people that they believe have the aptitude for it. Once you started they support you all the way, and in the end if you are good enough you get to train other people. I am going to ask Debbie the main trainer who they went through the training. I am starting to think about doing a course in it. All my friends say I should do it as they think I have a connection when it comes to dogs.

Go for it Ceejay!!!!
