Oh Sheree he looks so scared! The poor boy, this is when I wished I had more land and no council by-laws so I could take in foster koolies. I hope you find a way to rescue him.

Ohh what a scared and pleeding face.
I know what you mean Ceejay, but I made a s**t house foster anyway and I only have a 50% rate of rehoming!!!
I hope he finds his way out soon!!!

Whats your deal with Fosters? We have fostered and rehomed before for another breeder, unlike Rachellebuck our sucess rate is a little higher (lol, but we do have Harry, i know what you mean!) We would take him on (as a foster) if you need someone, but i'ld like a little information about you program!
Cheers Koolarks

Koolarks - the best idea is to give Kerrie a call on (03)5486 5370 and she will give you any info you need.

Hey koolarks, our foster program is much the same way as anyone else's.
Interested people who own Koolie's’or are familiar with the breed, who wish to assist in offering a temporary home to a rescue can get involved.
So far we lose more Fosterers due to them keeping their fosters.
Not that I'm complaining.
Temporarily can be until the next available flight, to when you locate a new permanent home for your foster.
Most of us will do some basic obedience or some sheep training to increase their chances of a new home.
All vet work is carried out when funds are available, by Koolie rescue either through the foster or their vet.
But our funds are not inexhaustible, so we just don't fly in.
We support the Koolie's which are in pounds, we circulate their photo to possible interested people we have on our waiting lists.
Only when a Koolie is in danger of losing out to time do we organise to have them brought into care.
I know there are a lot of well meaning and caring people out there, but fostering isn't about being the hero or for brownie points or egos.
Our Foster volunteers search out the pounds, talk to people about our rescues, not just the ones we are caring for but all that are in Koolie rescue around Australia.
They make contact with groups which are happy to help with transport or release issues and just about anything related to caring for rescues.
I've had fosters who did fund raising to send to Koolie rescue, others have donated products which go along with their foster to their next home.
Anything to increase their chances of a good home.
It is why we don't charge for our rescues, it's not about the money, it's finding the right home.
It's no longer about just offering a temp home, there's so much more involved.
You become part of a growing network of committed volunteers who will if necessary do everything including stick their hands in their own pockets if it helps.
And honestly the only reward we get is another Koolie alive and happy in the home they so deserve.
If anyone knows of someone who might be interested in offering a 12 month old deaf Koolie a permanent home, please let us know his owner is organising to surrender him soon.
I should have photos in a couple of days.
This is not the one from the Canberra pound, all though if someone would like to ask them if they would like a second one for a playmate for the one they already have, that would be a start.

Umm just as a question relating to the other topic of merle to merle. This guy obviously has a lot of white on him and is deaf - what colour is his mouth pigmentation if anyone has had a look???
Bit brain dead - forgot I was going to say I think the fosterers do a great job and maybe one day I would love to help out there. And well done on the people adopting him, always good to know people will give a second chance to a beautiful animal like this.

I did not take him out of the yard to look inside his mouth - just talked to him through the fence.

It's alway nice when their owners collect them, it's nice to know this special little chap has someone to love him, he was very lucky to be found safe especialy being deaf.
His owners must have been so worried about him.
I love happy endings.

It's scarey enough when a hearing dog goes missing, must be so much worse if its a deafie. They must have been so worried about him.
