i don't know about loving them again yet i had a repeat again this morning yes i slept in to 5am let the dogs out for toilet and a play (no cat this time she has a broken toe) i stayed out side with them and watered the garden bent down and pulled out two weeds and herd cattle running and dogs barking that lovable teenager did not clip the gate last night it was just sitting shut Quin, Summa and Greyson were gone. I ran out of the yard yelling as fast as i could and to my shock Quin and Summa both pulled of the cattle and bolted for the back gate to the house yard but greyson was still going after the cattle and that was it for summa she was gone but Quin stayed, i quickly put him on chain jumped into the car and flew done the paddock after my obedient dogs

they had put the cattle into a corner and were holding them there when i pulled up Greyson came running up to the car and jumped in, i think greyson thinks this is how we play this game you get to chase the cattle around the paddocks and mum comes and gives you a lift home.(i had given greyson lessons yesterday on getting into the car) Now Summa tried to hide behind a small low bush but some one should tell her that she has a very pretty white tip on her tail that gives her away, both dogs were taken home and put on the chain and that is were they have stayed all day tonight i mite love them again tonight if they are lucky lol

mate I can only say, better you than me.
I bring tissues now when I read your posts.
But honestly they might be naughty, over keen and green but you just got to be impressed with young dogs who will go up againt Simmentals and Brahmas.
And their not being stupid, their pairing up and working that big of Brahma in tandem, bloody good dogs.
When my hubby and I lived in Balranald the manager brought in several hundred head of simmentals fresh from up north and we learned very fast that they don't spell the last of their name mentals for nothing.
Mind you they could have just been a bad bunch, cause I think Herefords are crazy too, but my friend up north just loves them and has bred them for many generations.
So while I cringe at what could happen so easily to you and your dogs if you piss these bastard off, I can't fail to be impressed by your dogs willingness to please you and their confidence.
But for the grace of god go you and your Koolies.

Royalla I so do love reading about your life, never a dull moment. It has been proven by science that teenagers do sleep more but they do for a reason it has something to do with hormones and how their body reacts, but don't tell your Amanda this. I wish I could test my dogs out on stock, ANY stock (chickens don't count). But I cannot find any farmers who are willing to let my dogs loose, so to speak.
You have some very willing workers there, that is a given.

Yes well we don't have sheep fencing yet, when I move that will be a project to get some damaras, but at the moment I thought it was a good idea.... but being only six months old and really small they squeezed out of the paddock so I took the ACD's and they manhandled them back in the right direction and they squeezed back into the paddock so at the moment they are in the house yard at my OH's place mowing the lawn ... can't squeeze out of the dog mesh yet!! little bastards I don't know what I thought of when I got them but hopefully they will improve with a bit of size. They are called "Chop and Pie" and they will end up in the freezer eventually. The Koolie girls and Smith have not met them at the moment as they have no respect for dogs and I don't want them disheartend or hurt so the two red cattles are teaching them to respect dogs first.
What I need is a trained Koolie to teach the young ones how its done!!!

cattle don't get better they just get stronger and can then push fences over. when you go to show your koolies the cattle for the first time have them on lead and the cattle eating some hay so they are quite just stand there your young dog may be scared of of them big things do this a couple of times until you feel your dog has related then let him/her of lead they should move around the out side of your stock now it's your turn to incorage your dog to balance to you, if your dog is moveing to your right then you move toward your dog have a rake in your outside hand and block your dog never hit him with the rake just block and send your dog back the other way to get the dog to center to you is oops sorry thats sheep can't help you with cattle i just run behind yelling like a loon

unfortunately they are not phased by the size as they are used to dealing with horses.
