Hey Guys!

Have a few things to mention (without the gory details here i promise!!)
Firstly I apologise for my missing photos on my earlier posts, i have had to start a new Photobuckets account to restrict the access of my photos to some that are not worthy of there viewing! Who are not on this forum, hence i will fix my posts up with the new links asap! So hope thats ok with all!

Secondly, i have decided to keep in contact with the Koolie Club, after much consideration of giving up on the breed altogether,(also with no relation to the KCA or its forum) so i'm sorry for lack of involvement and input of late, but i hope you don't mind if that changes too!

Thirdly and most excitingly I have a new Koolie! He is a stunner and a beautiful match for my Matilda and i am very excited about introducing him to you all!!!

So hence, Hello again!! beer.gif

Welcome back and can't wait to see the pickies of the new Koolie. I'm getting a new one too but won't be picking her up until next Saturday Pup.gif The logistics of getting her up north here were a bit more complicated than usual.

Make sure you put the new pickies up soon ... we just love pickies.

Thanks for the warm welcome back!! My new boy is a tri-coloured, solid, long haired dog, originally called "Guy", but slightly changed by us to "Fly" or "My Fly Guy" to be fancy rolleyes.gif

He is a beautiful dog, 4 and a half years old. We bought him off a lady who bought him as a young dog to work and live on a small farm. Unfortunately for Fly, no one lived with him, except a rooster and two hens!! He had an owner who would go out and visit him, feed him and take him about the farm but then go back into town why Fly stayed on the farm. Being the intelligent loving dog that he is he has developed a knack of getting himself loose and taking off to visit the neighbouring places looking for attention. The neighbours have had enough of this, and felt bad for the dog, especially when they sent him home! So having met him on one of his outings (a neighbour dropped him at the clinic where i work so he could be picked back up by his owners) and discovering his Koolie breeding, i offered to buy him off them. Original they declined the offer but changed there minds after he went wandering again! So now he is with us, getting all the love and attention he deserves and loving it! Mind you we do have to keep an eye on him as he still likes to check out neighbouring places, old habits die hard i guess, but we have updated his rego/microchip details and he will shortly wear his own special id tag to make sure he always gets home!! Each day he gets more pally with our other dogs, so i don't think it will be too long before he gives up his wanders!!

Here's a few snaps of our latest addition, plus a few of my other pals, Leroy Brown and Matilda too!

I will be taking him to the next working dog club day in Armidale next month and if he proves to be a useful working dog he will be joined to Matilda on her next season, due in November/December when she will have turned two! All going well we will welcome Matilda's first puppies in the new year! And i don't know about you, (because i'm sure i'm biased) but i reckon they will be little beauties! dogwalk.gif

Fly looks very well settled, looks like fate had a hand in this. Fancy coming to your clinic hey. It confounds me what people do to their dogs, I know that he probably was not abused or anything, but fancy leaving a dog on its own to "look" after the farm especially a Koolie being so people orientated. I am sitting at my desk sighing and shaking my head. Bet your happy that he found you. I am sure some dogs come our way because they have chosen us.
Koolarks
CJ, there is a lot of fate at play in all of this! But we are so wraped to have him here with us and we will make sure he knows that his wanders for love were all worth it!!! And no, the people we bought him off never "abused" him as such, but unfortunately some people just don't realise what sort of human contact and affection these dogs require. When they saw him with Tilly on our ute they were as happy for him as we are. It has all worked out so well, especially as he is also just what i wanted for Tilly!
KoolieMum
Looks like things have worked out really well for both of you (all 3 I guess if I count Matilda :-). He looks lovely. Were you able to find out anything about his bloodlines?

I've never met him, but I think Piston is a stunning looking dog, and ppl who own his pups seem to be really happy with them.

Isn't leecos' Mindii his daughter?

Fly's a handsome boy! Matilda and Fly look like a young newly wed couple in that photo, a little shy but happy!! Isn't he lucky to have found you! You can't understand the way some people think about animals sometimes.

Hi KoolieMum, Leecos' Mindii is actually Piston's granddaughter, she is sired by Rolli who is a Piston son. surprised1.gif

Hi Koolarks
Welcome back. He sure is a nice dog do love the longer hair varieties so what did I get the shortest hair possible. Not good for the obedience as the judge can see every crooked position harder to tell with the longer variety. That's why the borders and shelties get good scores LOL d.gif
cheers

Oooh, we made some exciting discoveries yesterday afernoon after sifting through old coolie stuff on the other computer and making a phonecall to the breeder of our old girl Skeeter.. We found out that there is a very high chance that your boy Fly is related to our girls (skeeter, darcy and Zip)!!
Fly's great-grandfather (Nelson's Blue) was owned and bred by a very well known coolie breeder and trialer in the Shepparton/Benalla area and after speaking to skeeter's breeder we have discovered that her mother was also from the very same area and both skeeters mother and bidgee look very, very much alike. Nelson's blue was bred Frank Kelm, trained and trialed by Ray Nelson, the pair made quite a name for themselves.

Ray along with some friends traveled to SA in the early part of the nineteen hundreds to purchase an excellent working breed and brought it back to Vic where they continued to produce Koolies which traveled all over Australia.

ThumbUP.gif Thanks so much for posting that info Tj, I found it most interesting :) Nelson's Blue looks a lot like Skeeter's mum but his coat is slightly longer.
I love reading about and researching different Coolie bloodlines, I find it fascinating.
Tjukurpa
know I don't know the dates sorry, but I will be talking with someone real soon that may be able to help.

I love to research, but I don't like to share what I discover too quickly, I have learned the hard way, that that could be harmfull to the overall project.

Thanks for all the input! Regardless of his relatives Fly is a truely beautiful dog, he has really started to settle in and appreciate the benefits of having a family around, both the two and four legged kind!! Actually Cam has been home with him the last couple of days and he has really bonded with him, following him about and waiting right beside him while Cam has been working on the new fences. We are taking Fly away to see what his own working abilities are like and lucky for us friends have offered to take him on for a bit and help him get going if need be! But i don't want to leave him with anyone else while he is still bonding in his place here, so we'll take a rain check on that offer for a while i think. Anyway, I thought i may take some time off soon and take he, Leroy and Tilly off on a bit of a working holiday!
