hey Danni
and yep double trouble ...the first time I have ever bought two home ..had two of my maremma pups for a while but as said there are problems at time to time and rehomed one . They come from cressy way here in tassie , I just couldn't make my mind up so went back and got the other one lol mmm they are bathed already this morning and i have to admit they are rather good considering there's two lol two piddles ect but it's getting less frequent probably cause I spend loads of timeout and about , still worry about them getting trampled by the horses , Minty loves them , anyways better go

There are significant challenges with raising 2 pups together, you need to be quite deliberate about some of the things you do to reduce the risks. What you did with sending one away for a while, JackieH, was probably the perfect thing.
The difficulties tend to be that they develop very strong dependencies on each other, resulting in separation related distress when they have to be separated. So from when they are young, they need to spend lots of time apart, both at home and when they go out. They should go to separate puppy classes for example. Owners need to put special effort into building a really strong bond with each separately.
Some of the Canine Associations have recently had an article by a Delta trainer, Donna Marchiori, who is into BCs and Maremmas (I think she knows the most about Maremmas of anyone I've ever read or talked to). I haven't actually been able to get a hold of it yet, but from what I've heard about it, she takes the stance that generally an ethical breeder ought not sell multiple pups to one home.
challenges for sure lol my maremma's were actually really good i found lili had more trouble when her sire died and then there were seperation problems mind you she's loving Minti and Jaspa ......they can be a bit grrrr at times but patience is a must , my daughter does alot of work with jaspa and Minti sorta is with me most of the time as is Jellybean , they are very different , personality wise , and I have always said that Maremma's are born with a brain ,,incredible dogs , but i was amazed when Minti and Jaspa both slept when getting their needle ....mmmm very quiet pups but when they wanna get around boy they can move ....I do agree with Donna ....but there's always that one acception to any rule
