Hi there, I am a new member of the forum and having some trouble finding out how to add photos. Anyway I will introduce my koolies and supply photos later. I am living in a house on a sheep farm near Rye Park NSW and its a lovely setting to have my koolies and other assorted dogs and close to Binalong and Yass where we go for sheep dog training. I began my journey with dogs when I lived in the city many years ago with two Aussie terriers (Jessie and Geordie), then I moved to the country and got a kelpie to do sheep work (Lass). I still have them all along with an elderly but fiesty mini foxie whose owner went into a nursing home.
In recent years I discovered koolies and of course fell in love with them. They are such affectionate and intelligent dogs and they get along with the other dogs so well. I started with a blue merle female (Skye) but unfortunately she was bitten by a snake (who was living under the garage) and she died last year. I was so shocked at losing her when she was just starting to enjoy life - she had come from a neglected background and her rehabilitation took many months. I then found a red merle female (Minya) via the internet. I was fortunate to get her as she was going to New Zealand until that arrangement fell through. Meanwhile I also came across a young blue merle male in the local pound (Chester) and he was the male image of Skye and so I just had to have him too. I'm just a sucker I suppose. Chester is a pocket rocket and he does three laps of the paddock before I get out the gate to go for a walk. Minya is more refined and sedate. Both love working sheep when we get the chance.
To finish the story off Minya had three pups on 17th April this year to a dog called Rex; a blue merle female, a red merle male and a black female. Both the merles have gone to lovely homes and I am still looking for a home for the black pup (Karli). She is a great little pup with a lovely gentle nature.
