Had to get my 16 year old Blue Heeler put down yesterday. Poor darling was so bad with arthritis, and our cold snap was too much for her to contend with.

She was so much a big part of our family, it leaves one with a real gut wrenching empty feeling, but i have to think about her being free from pain now.

When an animal shares 16 years of ones life it leaves a huge gap, but i have some lovely memories to hang on to.

Heeler (yes i know it was an original name for a Heeler)she was a lovely dog and one that will never be forgotten.

So sorry for your loss.

Sixteen years is a good innings for a great dog.
I bet you have albums full of her memories.
I love her name, is it possibly to share a photo of her.
She belongs at the rainbow bridge.
I know she will be missed, but she will always just be a thought away.

Here is a pic of her.

Words are not enough to express how you feel when you lose such a precious part of your life. I am sorry for your loss and my thoughts are with you and your family during this time, it is never long enough when it comes to our special dogs in our lives. Keep her close to your heart and the memories will be there too.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Heeler looks beautiful in her photo. They are such devoted and faithful dogs, cattle dogs so I'm sure your Heeler was a wonderful dog.

Hang in there Jcas.

Thanks for your comforting words guys, i know we can't hang on to them forever, but it surely will take so long to get used to not seeing that wagging tail, and the bright loving eyes that looked at you in adoration.

Our dogs cost us a fortune to rear and keep healthy throughout their lifetime, but we are rewarded 10 times over by their undying love and loyalty.

Sorry to hear Jcas, it's never easy but 16 years is such a great effort. Well done, giving her such a long and happy life and gentle passing.
