Good girl none of me glad you had a terrific time, we missed you the next day and the weather was so much kinder we got to see a demonstration in crutching and wigging.
That's when they remove the wool from around the sheeps eyes and bottom, for those who may not know.
It was very interesting and you could understand why the farmers mule their sheep, the bottom area is very wrinkly and gets very hot and moist with all the wool cover, if they don't permanetly remove the wool the sheep is at great risk of getting diseased and dying.
Brad showed us a mules sheep and a non mules sheep and explained that through pressure from the market, the non mules wool is more expensive than the mules wool.
I know which one I prefere, the untreated one stank and had lots of dags it took him a long time to crutch her, and she was very uncomfortable.
Brad also told us of an injection that the goverment has introduced to take the place of muleing.
If creats an infection under the skin and tortures the skin until it is so impacted and stretched that it forces the wool from the skin leaving the area bald.
It gives the sheep a lot of pain for quite some time, it is very confusing as it was meant to replace the so called barbaric method of muleing, yet if courses more pain for a longer period and gives the same result.
Look forward too seeing you all again in September.

Kovu looks like he was a natural at it. I hope you enjoyed your day and I am sure TJ and the crew would love to have you back for another session. She looks like such a keen little worker.
Ah mulesing such a controversial subject. PETA and their wonderful views, I wonder if any have actually seen a sheep being eaten by maggots when they don't get muled or treated? Has any of them smelt or seen the sight of sheep left naturally? They protest and say that is unethical or cruel to the animal, I think they would be more productive to research and finding solutions themselves and working with the industries that they are attacking.
