This morning at 6.30 I went to feed the horses & my old, 21yrs, stallion looked odd standing in the corner I went over to check & he was frothing at the mouth & sweatting, right through his rug. I've never moved so fast into the house to ring the vet, she arrived at about 7.00 but there was nothing she could do & she didn't know what was wrong but he was in a lot of pain & as hard as it was we put him down. We've had Nuggett for 17 years & had a lot of good times together & a few I'd rather forget

but I wouldn't swap any of them. His full title was Wayandah Park 1 Golden Nuggett, that's me riding him in the left corner, he looked beautifull in summer but in winter he looked a bit like a yetti. RIP little mate you'll be in our hearts forever.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Gee, 17 years is a long time, no wonder you call him your mate.

So sorry to hear about Nuggett, it is hard with horses as they have been a part of you for such a long time. Remember all the moments and keep him in your heart. My heart goes out to you and I am sure that he will be greatly missed by you.

What a rotten way to discover your favorite best friend, but what a wonderful owner you are to act so fast snd then so kindly when he needed you the most.
I know he loves you for your actions and you will always have your wonderful full past you both have had together

So sorry for your loss, i can imagine how you are feeling.
By the pic of you riding him i can see he was a very stylish boy, and by the way he is presented a very much loved boy too.

Thanks to all who have responded to our Nuggies death.
After speaking to another vet we know he suggests he had an ulcer which
burst and poisoning his system hence the frothing.
We still look out to his stable waiting to see him stick his head out wanting to be fed.He was up to medium/elementary level dressage back in his day way before pony dressage was even thought of.
This photo was taken by me at the Reynella Dressage day back in 95 doing Elementary 3.3 which he won even though he was only 13.2hh against 16hh plus. with a score of 55.47% Not to shabby..
He will be missed but not forgotten.

My thoughts are with you ... it leaves a hole in your heart when old mates are gone and what a glorious boy he was. Does he have any sons to follow his tracks??

I know he had 3 colt foals but don't know if they were gelded, we've go one of his fillies, a buckskin, & there's a filly that we've been told looks like a bay version of Nuggett that we can buy, cheap, if we want, yes thinking about it but still a bit to soon for me.

Hey do you know Shiela Lewis and her girls Maria and Laura. They were into dressage and pony club and have been around for years. I think one of them was called Duran and another Pixie and there was another one out there as well. They have been doing it for years. Mum Shiela is still into though. Not sure about the girls as they all got married and doing other things though.
cheers
