Welcome trentrenae.

Are all your dogs Koolies?

Oct 30 2008, 07:18 PM

How lucky are you? Are they all koolies or do you have some other breeds in the gang. Bet you have some wonderful stories to tell too. How long have you had koolies for? You will have to post piccies of all 10 and their names! I am slightly envious I would love to have more dogs but space constricts me to a lowly number of two at the moment. But a wonderful pair they do make. Do you breed at all? Sorry for all the questions. lol.

Lucky thing - they don't all sleep in your bed do they??lol I have enough trouble with one dog and a cat (plus kids) getting their names right!!lol Would love to have more but just not the right time at the moment. Hope you enjoy and join in on the many and varied discussions we have on the forum that often go off on tangents!!

I cant seem to be able to get a photo to down load now. Well we have had Koolies for 9 years now and would never go back. Beth has one of our Pups and so does DanniMilo. We have a WILJA Koolie his name is Jack he is the most beautiful dog excellent temprement. Such a sook. We have another stud Male in which is one of our own breed. His dad was bitten by a snake and we werent going to keep him except he had a gunky eye and couldnt sell it until that was healed up and well he ended up stayin and is an excellent dog. Our oldest girl she is 6. She is my baby girl she is my best worker as she will listen to me as the two boys will only work for my husband and look at me like well your not Dad so go get him. My girl is the leader of our pack well thinks she is. We have we have 4 other girls which are younger. The Baby of our family is Cocoa and she is 6 months old she is my baby too. She is just starting to think this work stuff is gettin interesting and give me more. We have her brother aswell he is head strong and arogant really just like his Dad (Jack) Jack fathered his first litter and they are alot like him but have some of their mum in them aswell. There mum is my baby aswell she is 2 she is a merle and so loving and craves for my attention all of the time and loves to be touching me and has to always be near me as much as to coming to the toilet with me if I let her. So basically I could go on and on about my babies but I wont bore you. But looke forward to gettin some photos up as soon as I can really. Thankyou for readin this I hope I didnt bore you too much. Yes all out dogs are KOOLIES wouldnt have it any other way

Hi trentrenae - in this section of the forum it doesn't seem to allow you to attach photos directly from your own computer to the posts as attachments, not sure why that is. Anyway, perhaps you could put some photos somewhere like photobucket and attach them from there? Then you can get the code for each from pb and insert it into the post with
CODE
[img] before it and [/img] after it.
(Sorry, had to do it like that or the puter would go looking for an image with the code 'before it and'. lol.) PB will also allow you to reduce the size of the pics.

Great to see you've joined the forum Renae, you will enjoy it. Never forget the day we came to your place and were met by the 17 pups not counting the mums & dads. Renae's dogs have such lovely temperaments and they were all so happy to see us.
You will need to join Photobucket (or something similiar) to get your photo's on the forum, I tried a couple of other ways but they didn't work. Danni sent me the photo's of the last litter you had sent her loved some of the red merle ones. (not sure if you have had any since)

Ok someone please tell me how to get this photo bucket.
Anyways Name of our dogs from oldest to Youngest
Jess- 6 years old Black Tan and White Female
Yappy- 4 years Old Merle Male Blue eye
Patch- 4 years old Merle Female
Jack- 3 years Old Chocolate Merle
Patty- 3 years old Black merle.
Ja Ja- 18months tan merle
Ok our newbies my babies that are drinving me insane right now and I am training them all and they are testing my patients
Digger- 6 months old Tan ful colour
Cocoa- 6 months old Chocolate merle Hense the name He He He
BJ- 6 months old Merle Blue eye
Ok I think that is it see we only have 9 I loose count because I tend to forget how many we have because we get more even though we dont really need them but Koolies are like an infection once you have one it is easy to get another and then once you have five then why not another and then very quickly you have almost ten and well the rest is history.
All of our dogs have there own working style which is excellent and have their very own loving cuddle or loving thing they do when you let them out the kennel in the morning.
Jess will lick you feet and try and jump up at you to say good moring mum.She is my baby she was my first dog I got the bug after my husband got his very first. She only works for me will work for my husband but only if he doesnt get angry with her she hates him gettin angry with her she will not work for him if he raises his voice but I can do whatever I like with her. Yap will run around you and then doesnt stop the rest of the day he is like a eveready battery. Jack well he gives the biggest cuddles as he is such a big dog his feet rest on our shoulders not that we are tall though and he talks to you all the time if you dont give him attention then you get a mouth full sometimes more than just a sound if you bend down to pat him he can sometimes slip the tongue in which is a bit gross.
Patch is very quiet she will wait until all the others have finshes there ritual and then come up to you very quietly and look at you with her bg brown ees and say what about me mum.
Patty likes the cuddle aswell and cant stay aways from you ever she is by my side all the time she is always on me when I sit dwon outside she is very much a sook. Patch is Pattys Mum. Both beautiful nature and gentle and only listen to me
Now Ja Ja well how do I explain her she is physcho really she runs all day and doesn stop she spins when she gets excited one day I sware she will pass ot dizzy. She does stop once she has done it a few times I think she must get dizzy.
Digger is Jack son. Pattys son. He has the same attitude as his Dad he will talk to you and look to give you cuddles and be careful of the tongue too but he no quite as big as Dad yet but will be big and beautiful like his dad. He is beautiful.
Cocoa is my girl she is Jack and Pattys aswell. She is the most beautiful natured dog and will be by my side aswell all the time has to follow me everywhere and not so sure about Dad when he yells at the other dogs sometimes but mum is ok. She is a mums girl. She has the most beautiful markings on her belly but then she has beautiful markings anyways.
And BJ is Yappys and Pattys pup. He is like his dad he is wound up like a rbber band and only listen to My Husband. Like his father. So that is our broud. They are all different and beautiful and we Love them dearly. Our life would not be complete without them they are like our kids. Sorry to dribble but when I get started I seem to go on and on and on and on. Sorry hope that explains more about our dogs. Will pt pics up soon.

I am so sorry this is so long and boring

Here's the link for photo bucket.
http://photobucket.com/It's free but you have to join. Once you join you can upload your photos from the computer to photobucket, then when you want to post them on the site you copy and paste the image code (not the html code) to the post you're making on the koolie forum. It's pretty easy, just follow the instructions on photobucket.

Reading about other people's dogs is never boring, you can tell by your post how much you adore your hounds. My two are my children as I didn't have the human variety, very hairy kids. lol. And the unconditional love that you get, who else gets so excited to see you after only being away for 20 minutes. The rewards are huge.

trentrenae, if you started a new thread in somewhere like 'Photos and Websites' you'd be able to load photos directly from your own computer as attachments without having to use PB. I always find PB a pain in the neck and too fiddly. And that way the photos don't come up on the screen every time someone opens the thread, they actually have to click on them to open them (and you don't get that annoying popping down thing happening when you try to read posts as photos above them in the thread open). And it's better for ppl on dial-up.

sorry kooliemum i will have to disagree there i am on very slow dailup and when i have to click on each pic to view them i give up and only look at the first one or two and some times i don't bother at all as it takes way to long that way, i find it quicker if the pic's have been put up with photobucket at lest i get to see them that way.

Cocoa is a merle but a chocolate merle she has the most beautiful colours it is amazing. She has all different chocolater colours in her. Her belly is the pretiest it looks like she has spent the morning in the hairdressers. All streaky. Beautiful. The last photo on my other reply she is cocoas mum she is Patty she is a really dark merle she and cocoa have the most beautiful nature they are sooky and loving and loyal and gutsy all at the same time. Just amazing dogs. Sorry here i go again I will post some more photos

Your first photobucket link took me to your photobucket album so I was able to see all the photos there. (Just be careful not to put anything you don't want public in there!lol)
I'd be careful with Cocoa - with all these red merle fanatics around here you'll have them all drooling and wanting to steal her, she's so pretty!

Sorry I stuffed up there with the photos sorry. I realised that after I posted it but didnt have time to fix it sorry. No I wont put anything in there I dont want anyone else to see. It will just be dogs I thought so that they are all in the same spot and easy to get to. Cocoa is my baby girl and she wont be goin no where. I have a real soft spot for Chocolate and tan merles aswell. So she as perfect I know pickin a dog by looks probably isnt the best thing to do but she was picked at birth as soon as I seen her I wanted her just had to convince my hubby and it took a bit to convince him but once he started to see she was interested in workin aswell and then her colours came out he fell in love with her aswell. So she is stayin. BJ and Digger we will see we are going to train them and see how they go and then maybe sell them so in 12 months then maybe we will get rid of them but i am attached to them aswell but really trying hard not too get too attached as the hubby keeps tellin me they will go one day. And I keep saying we will see I guess and then I get the glare like the glare I get everytime I want another dog. But he loves his merles he has a soft spot for merles but he did buy his forst red 18 months ago from Wilja i will post a photo now he is adorable and a big boy
Jack is his name. What code do I use in Photobucket to just get the photo

Nov 27 2008, 08:29 PM
We are so lucky with all our dogs. They are loyal, Charming, Beautiful, They have stamina, Control when needed, Speed. Jess is gettin a bit slower while she is pregnant right now but she is still my worker and try stopin her while she is prego., She has not much longer to go now her teats have come now and she is strugglin to jump into the kennel now and puts her front paws up and looks at me and says mum lift me up well she doesnt actually say it, it is her eyes that say it and her grunt. She is just amazing. Anyday now for newbies so will take photos and post them once she has them. Am hopin she has them in her kennel this time as she looks for the stinkiest spot she can find up the shearin shed most of the time and then they are hard to get too and make sit difficult but it would matter what we serve in the maternity wing she still looks elsewhere. But that is her and the others. But she needs to have them soon as she is lookin real uncomfortable now. So best I get the maternity towels ready so I can change her bedding after as she likes new beddin after she has her pups or she will move them again aswell. Sorry I am dribbling again. Sorry I will stop now I am just gettin a bit excited to se what these pups are going to look like. Anyways better go.

Ok First question. Patty the first photo she is one of our own breed. Her Mum is Kallora Patch and Dad is Kallora Max (the one that got bitten by a snake). So sorry just Patch and Yappy. She was the pick of the litter really she had beautiful colours from birth and when she was born she was a very dark bitch and we were lookin for a dark bitch and was going to buy one in but saw her and thought well maybe we will see how she goes and then she stayed and she has had one litter and is the mum of Cocoa. And digger. What else did you want to know she is a paddock dog she does ok in the yards but doesnt really have as much confidence but I have to admit she does lack some confidence with work but we are still gettin there really with her.
Jack ok his Mum was Seafoam Sue and Dad was Zac. I think that was his dad. But I would have to get his paper work out to double check. He is a natural leader dog and is such a beautiful big dog. When we were goin to fly him to SA he was 9 weeks old and they were going to put him in a cate crate and I thought that would be fine but they rang me before they the flight and said he wouldnt fit in a cate crate at 9 weeks old and had to be put in a full dog crate instead. He is a big Boy hense his name when he was little. His colours have changed aswell a lot. The leader bit is really frustrating really we are finding it really hard to control and train so if there are any ideas he is 2 but still learning everyday and is very intelligent. And loves to work but frustrating with the leader bit we have never taught him the leader dog stuff he has done that from day dot. He is beautiful give huge big cuddles in the moring and plays with you he is my husbands best mate they are very close. I am not sure what else to tell you really.
Both dogs are very loving and loyal. Patty is my baby and Jack is my husbands dog. I can never seems to bond with the boys aswell I dont know why they just gravitate to my husband all the time.
I want to post this photo of Patty as I love it sorry she looks like she is posing fo rthe camera and I love it.

I actually went "aww" when I saw that photo of Patty, she has the most beautiful face. I love Koolies, they come in so many shades and variety I so wish I can have more but the new council has changed their laws and even on an acre I am now restricted to two, it used to be four.

I dont know what council area you are from but I know we also had a limit of dogs here even though we are on a farm and all we had to do was write a letter to the council asking for permission to have tne dogs and had to draw a map of what kennels we had to cater for 10 dogs and that was it and then they sent letters to our neighbours and asked if they had a problem with this and there was no one so they approved I dont know if that helps you in anyways Ceejay. Could be different were you are. Sorry not really up to date were everyone is actually from. But thought this could help in some way.
And by the way Ren is absolutely beautiful. SO they are cousins is what you are sayin maybe. Thats cool she is beautiful.

Nov 29 2008, 05:58 AM
Jack and Shay are full litter mates so that would make Ren jacks niece and just like human families they live worlds apart Q.L.D and i think S.A did i get that right lol. i know you have cattle on your place, could i ask what kind do you run and if you don't mind me asking do you work Jack on any other kind of stock goats, sheep ? sorry just interested because of little Ren i know that Shay works sheep and cattle and i think goats as well but not sure there. does your husband find Jack a handy dog with the stock, god you poor woman i am a hundred and one questions ain't I and i hope you know that you don't have to answer any of my questions if you don't feel like it, I am just a sticky beck when i find dogs related to mine that are not still with their breeder that way you can find out if that line of dogs really work or not.
trentrenae
Nov 29 2008, 07:08 AM
He is a good dog but I am not sure If I mentioned it but he is a natural leader dog and we really struggle with him to stop him goin back to thinkin he needs to lead the sheep to somewhere. If he is on his own he will work fine but all we need for him to loose track of what he is doin is for one of the dogs to be a bit of a escape artist and get out of the kennel and come to the sheep and he will go into leader mode. He is two I think roughly and he is still learning so definetely not fully trained but we do have testing days with him and I have to admit he is not the best worker we own, I am just being honest there. But that would some of our fault aswell bacause we just struggle to fully understand the leader dog bit I think If we could control that then we would have better luck. But he will work for my husband when there are no other dogs around. We did have cattle but dont anymore we had to sell them. But Jack didnt really have a lot to do with them. So sorry I have dribbled a lot and went around the point a bit but it is hard to explain with Jack he is a very testing dog but it is obvious that he is very intelligent but we struggle with him and his own abilities. He is the most loving dog and has a huge attitude when you are walking somewhere he will walk behing you and hold you hand with his mouth not bite but he wil keep touchin you hand like he is holding it. In the mornings he will give you the biggest hug when you take him out of his kennel and I mean huge hig my husband and I are a bit vertically challeneged so he will put his front feet on our shoulders and give a big hig and a quick kiss if you arent careful. He talks to you all the time when he wants your attention. He is the most loving loyal dog and frustrating dog all at the same time we have ever owned. Dont know if any of that helps hope so and hope I havent dribbled too mch really. If you want to know anymore then please let me know. I am happy to talk about my dogs as you probably know. Yes we are from SA.

Hi trentrenae we're from SA too, we've got three dogs, all I did was tell the council they were working dogs that worked & we lived in a farming area then there were no problems. I have a Koolie with the most adordable blue eyes that look up at you with such love. She does bark but that is only to let every one know that she is here not to scare people away. She is always the first one at the door to greet people and her whole body wriggles when she greets people. As for burglars she would help them shove the family silver into their bags. She is now 8 years old and I hate the thought of her getting older as I never want to lose her. Summer here is a worry as we have snakes and she is always inquisitive when something moves. We do try to keep a watchful eye on her in summer and don't let her out of our sight. She is great with children and actually whines when she hears children as she wants to go to them. Then she just spends her time with them licking them. My sister has just bought a Koolie because she just loves our dog and wanted to have one the same. When I first bought our dog I was walking down the street with this beautiful bundle in my arms when a lady stopped me and told me that I would have a loyal friend for life and congratulated me on my choice of dog. I must say I agree with her. I love my dog.
