Hi there
There have been more Koolies dumped in NSW. There is a breeder there who regularly dumps excess pups/dogs. Hopefully I will work out how to put the pics up. The pups are girls and the big boy is Copper...he is about 10-12 months.

Where are they in NSW?

How heart-breaking. They look like a really desirable type (physically). Copper looks stunning, he looks to have the type of build I'd like when I eventually breed Koolies (fairly small, delicate head, long legs, lean body with plenty of muscle through the loin, muscular and not particularly long back legs, and beautiful all-over the place tail (for good balance doing agility), and I think those little girls are exquisite.
Perhaps the breeder thinks they are too light in colour? Am I the only one who thinks that one of the girls (the one without spots on her nose) is a slate? (Can't tell if she's merle or not.) I'm sure it doesn't mean anything, is purely random variation, but we seem to be getting more lilacs than slates (at least, I'm aware of more).

At the moment they are in Griffith. I am currently fostering what we think is a litter mate to Copper and he is just so good. Quiet, and obedient and he is only 5ish months. I have found an awesome home for him. I just have to get his vet work done then he is free to go!
Cheers

If you want any contact details for the dogs, let me know.

Bit confused - 5 or 10 mths?
Beth
Nov 17 2008, 01:54 PM
Mine is 5 months...he is blue, and Copper is 10-12months ish....might be father....He is the father of the pups in the pic, but is definately related to my foster.
RTA: sorry, all confusing...we just know that they are all coming from the same place. My foster is exactly the same build as Copper.

Thanks Beth. I think he'd have to have been an early developer to have sired a 5mth old??

Sweet little pups. Very whitish and pinky from the pic's though. Copper looks a treat though so hopefully they'll turn out great. Gawd, what about the poor bitch churning these pups out at this rate though..*shakes head*

I wonder if anyone has tested the little pink-nosed one's hearing. She looks like she'd be pretty high risk of deafness.

Are these pups currently being fostered or are they in a pound?

Glad they at least have a bit of reprieve being in care. Were they dumped by the breeder? At the pound or a shelter? Sorry for the Q's but I'm just curious. I find it hard to understand why someone would do this sort of thing. Beats me how anyone could dump such cuteness! Naive thinking, I know it happens at a much higher rate than it should.

I have been in rescue for a couple of years now, and I never fail to be shocked at what people do...particularly when they dump their 12 year old dog....
These guys were rescued before they hit the pound, as that is where they were going, and the pound is a breeding ground of disease for pups as we all know.
They are being cared for beautifully in NSW. We just need some homes!
Let me know if you think you can help....
Cheers

If she isn't actually merle it would be a mean twist of fate - it may just be the photo, the patterning on her face and ears looks like merle, yet I can't see any colour in what would be the dilute areas if she was merle (it's hard to tell if some lighter areas are merle-dilution or just long white hair over her base colour). Although it might darken up with age. And the colour on her front legs, what we can see of it, looks very solid, can't see any merling there.
I think slate might be my favourite colour at this second, along with black, red, gundog red and lilac ;-)

Beth - the daughter of a friend knows someone who would like to speak to someone about the pups - they may be interested in taking one - can you send me contact details for who they should talk to - my email is ailsat@netspeed.com.au. They are based in Canberra so not too far to come and have a look.

He is great looking, and as the other two are pale but still with colour like him as they seem to be, with any luck they wont be deaf.

Looks like they have found homes which is good - I ended up with about 5 different possible homes for them.

I might be being a bit forward here, as we don't even know each other, & I'm probably saying what everyone else is thinking but we all love you for that.
They were way to cute & will grow into beautifull dogs, it rips my heart out every time I see any dog in a pound. Ok gushed enough gotta go.

That's fantastic that so many people opened their hearts and homes to these pups!

Hi all
YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!
I cannot believe how everyone wanted to help ane empathised with their plight. Unfortunately, until we can find thei BYB there will be more....every couple of months they show up in Griffith. Rest assured I will always let everyone know if I can't help myself.
I only ever take one foster at a time. My little foster Koolie boy is being desexed etc on Monday and going to his new home on the weekend when he is all better.
I can only help so many, so it is great for me to know that you guys are intersted and helpful...thankyou
If anyone wants to email the carer, her name is Robyn Pike and her email is
robynpike@skyways.net.au
Sorry I haven't caught up with everyone re this little family, but have been flat out at work.
So thank to everyone who cared, and I'm sure I will be looking for help again in a few months...
Cheers
