Hi all

This message has just been posted on DOL.
I have said I will help as much as I can, but may need NSW help.
This is the posting:

Just got word of two litters of Koolie/Koolie x pups facing "country style" Euthanasia
I am in the process of getting more info and will post when I have it but so far I have

Litter 1 - Koolie x cattle - 8 weeks - 7 pups remaining

Litter 2 - Koolie ... no other info, do not know even if they may be "pure" koolie no age no numbers

Just thought I'd get the ball rollling to see if anyone was interested while we work on details at this end

I hope to god I can get more info before something awful happens. I am in panic mode now. My number is 0412862304 if needed.
I will keep you all up to date as it unfolds... plane.gif

Just saw on DOL these pups are in Upper Hunter. If I can help with transport or something let me know, might even be able to sqeeze them in for a couple of nights if needed.

All of these situation are terrible because sometimes this is easier to do that to deal with the real problem and the real problem is that sometimes when people buy two dogs they do need to think about the bigger picture when they get older. If you dont want to have puppies then you should get them desexed. But I know as a farmer at the moment it is really hard with there being 4 years of Drought and no real evidence of it letting up as yet so to afford to get your dogs desexed can be a real struggle and then to have your dogs have pups and to think about having to feed 10 more mouths on an already stretched budget can make you have to make some drastic decisions. I am not defending the slaughter of any animals but I know what it is like right now as we are farmers and maybe this farmer has no other choice at the moment. It is sad for them aswell but they maybe in a really bad situation.
Like I said though I dont agree with doing to hole farm Euthanasia though. But I do think there maybe a bigger picture here aswell. But If we could help we would but at the moment we arent able to take on anymore dogs wither sorry Beth. Hope you have some luck with getting these pups. It really could be a real relief to this farmer to know there is another option.

I hear you. It is a bigger situation that just a few pups needing homes, and it is happening across the board with all breeds. Pounds are full and will get fuller as Christmas draws closer as people do no want to pay the money for boarding if they go away. There is also the problem of people not having enough money to feed their dogs.
So many pups are lost through overbreeding designer dogs that people don't realise will need extra care with their coat etc, but they look so cute in the pet shop...good money spinner.
I have no further info re the Koolie pups, but will help if I can. There is nothing more than anyone can do.
I know all you guys would help if you can....
