It is with great sadness we have layed our dear old Yogi to rest. Formally known as Silhouette Yogi reg number 00003/3A. At the grand old age of sixteen and a half after a couple of days of being "off" she quietly slipped away. A good passing for a loyal and hard working girl (she always loved to put the bulls in their place), she worked actively on the farm until about 14. She follows her mother who passed at 16 also and our first koolie cross who also made 16, to "boot hill" in a peaceful shady corner of the garden overlooking the dam. She leaves behind her daughter Ripper 11 years old, grand daughter Tilly 8 years old and great grand daughter Min 4 years old and many decendants through the efforts of dogs such as Biff and Digit.

It doesn't matter how old they are, really, does it? (although 16 is an impressive age.) It never feels like enough time (I always think, at least). So sorry, Sil.
Bluedog
It's hard to lose them, any of them at any age it hits you hard. Sorry for your loss Sil.

So sorry to hear about Yogi. What can words say when you lose a dear companion that has been around so long, it would feel like you a missing something out of your life. Her genes are carried within other dogs but her essence has gone to the rainbow bridge and now she is waiting, just for you to arrive. My heart goes out to you Silhouette during this time of your sorrow and hurt.

Thanks everyone. Although she will be sadly missed and we have many fond memories it is with some satisfaction that we bury her after such a long life, seeing that as a success particularly living on a farm with large machinery, tankers and fast moving traffic. Nothing and no one lives forever, life would soon have had little pleasure for her and she saved us from the sadness of making that decision. I find it much more distressful burying a young dog who has died from misadventure losing so much potential.

So sorry about that. She was such a pretty thing, even when she was old. You're right, she went the best way and in her own time.

She now joins her brother Patch up in the big sky

Thanks Scouresdog and Jcas! LH yes I believe she is the last, your Patch made a good age at ..13? from memory and another brother Spot (also known as Spot the wonder dog) passed away last year at 15, you can't ask much more.

Ann,

I know all too well the heartbreak of losing a great dog. Even though, I knew her only through photos - Yogi exemplified the heart and soul of the Koolie breed. Her longevity is definitely something that all breeders should be striving for.

My thoughts are with you,
Jeanne Joy

Hi Jeanne
Good to see you pop in! Thanks for your thoughts, I know you know just how we feel, doesn't matter how many you have or have had each one is special and to have her be able to live the natural course of her life with us is satisfying.
