Hi Everyone!

My name is Deb...and Im new beer.gif I live on the apple isle (Tassie) and have just purchased my first ever Koolie! She is a little red merle girl, who will be registered with KCA and the KWDA..

Andddddd she is just divine! absolutely gorgeous! I am going to call her Daisy. She hasnt arrived here on the apple isle yet, but will be in the next 2 weeks..and Im already BUSTING to have her and play with her!

I have bred, shown, rescued, trained, cared for and loved, dogs for many years..however this is my first ever Koolie. I have joined the group to learn more about the breed, and chat and share. I have researched the breed for a while, and am now in a situation where my lifestyle suits a Koolie.

I intend to work her, and later do trials with her, also she will be part of my business and firstly and foremost, my companion eusadance.gif

Help! I am trying to upload a avatar of her, have done the photobucket thing but cant seem to get it on? any help appreciated...

cheers

Welcome to the forum! Can't wait to see pics of your girl. It always takes me a couple of goes to get the photobucket thing working. Took me ages to figure out the avatars and get the size right.
Dashana
OKay, Im fiddling here, trying to figure out how to put pics of her up rolleyes.gif
So here goes...(Im still trying to work the avatar out! grrrrrrr)

KoolieMum
Hi Deb and welcome. Perhaps the problem with the avatar is that when you brought the code from photobucket, you also brought the
CODE
[img] at the beginning and [/img]
at the end of it too. If you remove those, it should work (I think). Like Bluedog, whenever I change mine, I have to fiddle around to remember how to do it.

Daisy is very cute.
Dashana
Ahhhhh HUH! It worked - YAYAYAYAYAY!

Here is another...hehehe

And again hehehehe

welcome2.gif Daisy looks like a sweetie. I think we have a few members on the Apple Isle but don't quote me on that, I have a shocking memory. You have come to the right forum to find out about koolies plus all other avenues we travel or meander down, we tend to go off topic quite a bit here. lol.

Welcome you will enjoy it on here, very friendly bunch.

needaHug.gif Theres a hug for you Royalla!! zrose.gif and a rose to say *thankyou* for allowing me to be the mum of the coolest Koolie pup around!! hehehehe

I just cannot stop thinking about her, all last night she was in my thoughts hehehe she is just such a doll!!

The 'trials' I am mentioning are the sheelpdog trials here? now I saw the add again last night on tv, and need to ask, does 'sheepdog' mean purely borders & kelpies? Im going to ask Lee (the guy that runs it) cause I reckona Koolie would be permitted - this is all new to me, so if I sound dumb, please forgive me hehehe

and yep, obedience as well..but alongside that, I train horses (I have miniatures myself) and she will be included in that too, doing some 'trick' training with them..

My business? hehehe its an alternative therapy of 'counselling', where people partner with either a horse or a dog, to learn about themselves and who they are. The principle is that the animal teaches them stuff about themselves, they learn about who they are through the eyes of the animal..which then is a catalyst for issues to open up. A lot of research proves that this methodology is one of positive outcome, and the animals welfare (emotional, physical and mental) is priority in each situation firstly..

SO! Daisy will be included within this as well, she will probably become the star of it! hehehe

Time for coffee..

welcome2.gif Dashana

I hope you enjoy yourself here, it sounds like you will bring an interesting "other" viewpoint to the discussions, I'm looking forward to your input.
Your little girl looks a real cutie and I look forward to seeing many more photos in the future.
We also breed miniature horses, they are addictive and before you know it they are all over the place!
Also look forward to hearing more about your "business" as well. dogwalk.gif beer.gif oooh coffee...that sounds like a good idea!
Bluedog
Well of course she's a sweetie! Sorry Royalla I didn't recognise her either. Her ears are up in that photo of yours and down in Dashana's photos and well I have enough trouble getting my family's names right let alone dogs!! group.gif
Your business Dashana sounds really interesting. I've heard of something similar but not with the counselling side before. Do you deal with people with problems or is it more if you want to find out more about yourself? Sorry to stickybeak it sound so interesting!
Dashana
Hi Bluedog...

Its counselling, so yep, 'problems' or rather I call it 'issues' that are affecting peoples lives..and they are unable to get through it to have a positive, healthy life.
The horse/dog, is a catalyst, they tend to shown people things about themselves that they either did not know, or wanted to know (acknowledge), or need positive reinforcement about themselves, that then leads to 'counselling'...

Once into the 'counselling' the dog would just be 'in the room' and if a 'horse' we would sit in the paddock..like its a support for them to pat, acknowledge or providing them with emotional safety just 'being' there..

I have invaluable advice for the owners of new Koolie pups. I don't care how cute and adorable they are, for at least a year hide the TV remote, any shoes you are attached to, and I'm sorry to say this, but even your very expensive Moray boogie board. Oh yeah, you could also add push bike tyres. Sorry, I have no sympathy. Been through it myself! So good luck through the teething phase, and don't believe a wod people tell you about those you beutKongs-they don't work. Half an asprin after dinner does seem to help when their teeth get really sore though, but when they get more bones than they could ever get through, what's with chwing uo the ENTIRE bogie board overnight?!
royalla
Lol of all the dogs and pups that i have had here i have only lost one pair of slip on shoe's and a couple of pencils d.gif i buy heaps of those raw hide sticks and shoes and i find the shoes really great as the pups love the lace's in them and you can add a smidge of peanut butter or a bit of those meat and fish spreads inside them that really keeps pups chewing on the right things
i did not know about the asprin thing is it safe to give them that ?????

Gee than I have been very lucky with all my pups. My new puppy Gabby she has only dug a few little holes and that was it Oh and inside just happens to be the toilet for the wees. Didnt like to get the feet wet but that is all under control. My other coolie Xena ate a few leather from my article set when she realized that exercise was so much fun LOL she got caught on the kitchen table she was wimpering cause she couldnt get off and use to take my husbands shirts off to bed with her. oh and a chewed up hose fitting she wanted to have a drink from the hose and she knew water came out of that. My border collie did the same with the hose fitting and chewed a gnome head off and that was all. I think its the fact that I mentally tire my puppies as well as physically tire them out that I dont have all these puppy problems LOL
cheers
Danni
ps didnt know about the asprin though

Gee Royalla

I also did not have a chewing stage with Ceejay, frozen bones worked wonders and pigs ears. And a few chew toys.

So not all Koolies are chewing machines, but be prepared anyway, you just never know. hehe.
