Hi Rainy and welcome!!! Glad you found us! welcome2.gif
I think Turbo is what you'd call a tri-merle? But the experts in these sort of things might give you a better idea. He does look a sweetie. Just be prepared for a full on pup! Lots of energy and very, very smart.

Close bluedog, he's blue merle (that's the black and grey part) with tan. If he also has white on him that we can't see in the photos, then he's a Blue merle tri :-)

A very handsome boy he is too. :-) Turbo is a kool name, that used to be my dad's nickname. Suits the Koolie personality too!
Rainy
sorry i should have noted that he was in the shade so the 'black' is acctualy dark brown and the dusty colour is sort of really pale caramel with brown hairs through it if that makes sence (like a flea bitten colour on a horse) :-) he also has a horse shoe on his side that looks cute, i cant get over how soft his fur is!!! Turbo is a good name for him BUT we already had a dog named diesel so i feel a bit stupid walking out the back calling "turbo diesel" hehe

ETA he has 3 white 'toes' and a few stray white hairs on his belly

Some more pics of turbo

Ok, if he's brown and caramel, and has white bits then Bluedog was right, he's a Red Merle Tricolour :-)It's funny how cameras can change how a colour looks, even the new photos look black and grey to me... maybe I have funny eyesight!
Which toes are white? I can't see...
Rainy
Its pretty hard to tell plus im a shocking camera man laugh.gif
id compare the brown to cadbrys old gold choc :)

in this pic you can see 2 of his toes

More a lucky guess on my part than any particular skill Penny!!! I certainly ain't no expert with dog colours - and he looks black and grey to me too on my computer screen!!

He sure looks like a blue tri-merle from the photos, perhaps Silhouette could shed some light on this one.

Well, I like the KISS principle and using the terminology we have on our registrations he is a good old red merle with brown points. In my opinion very nicely marked with an ideal amount of merle and minimal white you have lots of options of what to breed him to, if that is what you intend and he develops into a dog you feel is worthy of breeding from. May we ask where he hails from?? dogwalk.gif
Rainy
I have no experiance breeding so that is not an option for me. I dont know who breed him as i didnt purchase him, I inherited him he was purchased by my friend as a christmas present, but she had a major accident and isnt expected to last the week, her patner asked me to take him on as he works away from home 4 days a week but couldnt cope with the idea of a stranger takeing turbo. I will try and find out but it wont be for a while with every thing else going on but i do know it was around west sydney somewhere

He is beautiful, the soft hair is a bonus it is a teflon coat nothing sticks to them, very easy dogs to keep clean. If you have had staffies you should not have a problem keeping up with a koolie, high energy dogs but with an off switch.

Very sorry to hear about your friend.
Silhouette
Terribly sorry to hear about your friend, life really sucks sometimes but it does the rest of us good to know things could always be worse.
Perhaps you are meant to be a koolie owner and just didn't know it. Extra glad you found the forum as you can feel comfortable to bring up any subject that is worrying you here and get some input that just might make the difference. group.gif hanginthere.gif

Hi Rainy and taz.gif welcome from the apple isle!

Im Deb and fairly new myself, and have also just become a new koolie owner (and lover btw!!)
If you have a peek in the posts 'introduction' and then 'she's here', you will learn more about me, and my red merle baby, Daisy!

(Ok everyone, yes, yes, I know the name may suck to some, but its a name that suits her! Honestly! hehehehe)

Its a great forum Rainy!

Oops! forgot to add, Turbo looks very handsome indeed!! I love his horseshoe marking!

They are so smart, Im just learning that after 12hrs of Daisy! Ive only ever had small lap dogs, but have been around working dogs etc, and trained many animals, especially horses, so Daisy is going to be my terrific terror for the next 2 years or so I reckon! hehehehe

cheers
