Penny Nalder
I tried him out today with the 12 year old daughter of a friend of mine, to see if he would listen to her and run Young Kennel Club agility for her.

Ashley won't go with anyone else. Full stop, no negotiation. Doesn't want to play the game with anyone other than me.
I was hoping we might be able to persuade Dice to work for Nicole with some work and practice.

Well! He was great. He'll transfer his attention to whoever is in control of his toy :-)Even with me standing there giving her instructions, he did sit, down, wait and release, and left and right turns for her.

He also did a short jumps sequence several times for her.

Not once did he rush back to me for reassurance like I've seen so many dogs do when handed to someone other than their owner. It will be interesting to see how he goes somewhere other than my home. :-)

Isn't that great? We find who ever lets the dogs go has their attention...I can let 2 go and Rich let 2 go and they tend stick with the one who did so. Although if it looks like one is going to work stock and the other not...everyone goes where the work is. Difficult sometime as we might have cattle in the yard, one of us might go off to move cattle somewhere else before releasing the yarded stock and the dogs are reluctant to go because they want to stay with the cattle in the yard ready for action.
Ceejay
That is fantastic. Ceejay is the same when I first started training having two dogs someone always took Ceejay to train her. She went with them and had eyes most of the time on them. But Dice is a friendly type of guy and loves everyone right!
treen
That is great Penny that he doesn't mind at all and diversifies so well
Bluedog
That's great, he's relaxed and confident enough to go with someone else.
Penny Nalder
I hope he's happy to play with her at a show, it would be nice to have someone else who can work him if I am sick or get hurt.
Bluedog
Maybe let her take him for some walks around your home by herself and when you're in a slightly more distracting environment without putting pressure on either of them. See how they both go without you around, the more often she can handle him the better the bond I would say!
Penny Nalder
I took him to her house to play today, in an environment he's never been in before, with their dogs nearby, in fact poking their noses under the gate. he was rather distractable, but he did some work for her. Kept giving his ball to me to throw for him though. She needs to work on being more exciting!
Bluedog
Sounds promising! Small steps - I have to keep reminding myself of this lately too.

Sorry; typical Koolie traits, to keep coming up with the what you want of them.
But I am very proud of the boy and the joy he is bringing you.
Your a bright handler who has had the patience and understanding and have taken it slow.
You've ticked all the boxs so enjoy your rewards.
