Poppy is one of the girls we kept from our last litter, born early May last year. At the tender age of not yet 10 months old she has been deemed by the boss as a contender for replacement of the queen..Tilly...if she should ever be unable to work.
On her own she has taken up a position behind the cows on the yard during milking, constantly weaving back and forward behind them keeping them coming into the dairy, saving anyone having to go out to chase cows in from the bottom of the yard. She is also casts well out around the cows before milking and then moves them back down the paddock afterwards. Then chases the motorbike up the lane, crashes into the trough for a cool off and then recovers on the cool conrete while the boss finishes cleaning up. She is turning into a great girl we are very pleased with.

Thanks, we thinks she is pretty cute, I like the colour of her eyes. Tilly who is sitting with her at the bike is her mum and her dad is black with small amounts of merle, maybe 20%. I'm 90% sure Tilly is a cryptic merle, she has a few light hairs on her cheek.
Click to view attachmentAll the merles in the litter were similarly marked, although short coat.
I had a lot of trouble with my wireless connection dropping out last night and had some more photos of Poppy to include so here are some more. It is funny how some dogs are easier to get photos of than others, always struggled to get a decent one of her older sister at this age. So I hope it's not Poppy overload.

She is a very beautiful little lady.
I know what you mean about photos. Each time I spot Mac in a 'that'd make an awesome pic' position, the little bugger moves by the time I get the camera, or I'm in a place where I aint got the darn camera. GRRRR

Glad you all like them. Yes we do have a good camera, we lashed out a few years ago as we both enjoy taking photos and we wanted to be able to take good photos of the koolies we meet for the club website and promotion. For those interested it is a digital SLR Canon EOS 30D and good fun. But we still have those "I wish I had the camera moments". Or do what I did today and drove 600km round trip and left it sitting at the front door - reduced trying to take a photo of the dog with my phone! DAH!!

Have been very happy with the Canons, had a film Canon before this and it was so good all the girls working in the camera shop we had process the photos ended up buying one too. No credit to us obviously, they thought the camera did it all!! (shhhh...it did)
Now a EOS 7D...here am I GREEEN, fantastic camera and they do video as well. I expect plenty of calendar shots from you if you do.

For sure!! Sister in law has one and it looks fairly hard to use so i am sure it would take me a few months to get the hang of it.
The next part is saving hard and then finding one on sale.....

treen, there is always a program selection. You put it on the green square on the dial and it sets the speed, apiture and ISO itself and you take all the credit!!! Then when you start getting a bit more confident you can have a go with the other settings. Another joy of digital is you can try the same shot over and over with different settings and see the effect immediately (if your eyes can focus on the screen).
Thanks Royalla, she has the same markings on her head as her Granny, Ripper and I guess that was one of the things that drew us to her. Her coat is going to be more like Rippers I think, more medium with a fair bit of feathering. Good thing she is a swimmer.

I love the shot of her through the cows legs, very different point of view. You will have to try and take a few more like that and include it on the website. She has delightful markings, I think of cookie and cream cheesecake....mmmmm.
I have been away for a week from the OH and hounds and it always startles me in how wonderful Ceejay's coat is, strange, you tend to forget.

Thanks Ceejay, Rich took those quickly between puting cups on, there are quite a few and I might have a go at that, she certainly never stops still. Really need a video camera. I haven't been going to the dairy that often lately while things a quiet with less cows milking and no calves to feed (that will change in a couple of weeks) and he kept telling me how she was keeping them moving up but I didn't realise how well until I went around the other day when we had a sick cow. Then she took them all down the full lenght of the farm for me to the back paddock (they were reluctant as they weren't hungry). As soon as we got to the gate I said 'that'll do' she stopped and then jumped up and down in front of the bike challenging me to a race. Oh for a quarter of the energy!! She won.
