Ellie's mum
Click to view attachmentIt's been a long time since we have been on line and lots have happened. We lost our beloved Ellie and nearly Lass due to poisoning. The vet is almost sure it was a bait with panadol as it attacked the liver. I rushed Ellie into the vets on Sunday morning as she had vomited all through her dog run. She was put on a drip straight away. When I rang during the day she was still vomiting. The next morning she was dead. Devastated I went down to let Lass and our Golden out only to discover Lass had vomited so another trip to the vets with both dogs (just in case) Lass spent 3 days in there and Chad spent the week at a friends place as I was petrified he would be poisoned too. Lass pulled through (she is 11) and Chad was unaffected. We have three dog runs with 8 foot high walls so the dogs are locked away when we are at work or away for the day. I cried for days. We got the offer of another puppy but it was too soon. It wasn't until the other day when Ewan was outside trying to get the other two to play soccer that I realised he too was truly missing Ellie as she would play soccer, netball, jump on the trampoline so hence we now have a new addition.

What a devastating loss for you and your family... it leaves a huge hole in your heart.

You will have new memories with Elmo and Ewan now has a new friend to play soccer, netball and jump on the trampoline with him.

That is such a horrible thing to happen. I cant even begin to understand how someone could do that to an animal. I am very sorry for your loss.

I hope that little Elmo can bring joy to your lives and that Ewan finds a new playmate in Elmo.

I must say though that the photo is absolutely gorgeous.

Now that is just to cute. Hope he helps ease the pain as my girl has done for me.

Oh how awful, I hope it can't happen again? maybe you could cover their runs so no one can throw anything in.

That is a very cute pic of Elmo!
dandybrush
that is the most adorable pic, such innocence.

Such a terrible way to lose a loved one, I hope Elmo brings new memories and joy and that you think of Ellie with a smile on you're face and remember all the joy she too did bring

What a devastating way to loose such a fantastic dog as Ellie, she had earned the right to just fade away not have her time cut short.

Best wishs with Elmo, looks like he is a good start!

Click to view attachmentThank you all so much for your kind words and support. To loose a dog is just terrible but to think someone deliberatly went out of their way to poison them is devestating especially since they don't go wandering, chase cars and they are not nuisance dogs. The kennels and runs are about 100metres from the road and you can't see them at all. We have a small business that does drug testing etc so we are thinking maybe it was someone with a grudge. Who knows.

That photo of Ewan and Elmo is just gorgeous... great start to a life long friendship.

Poor Ewan must have taken it very hard. I hope that Elmo will help him through it all.

What a terrible thing to have happened to your family and to think that someone has done such a deliberate act can make you feel so vulnerable.

Elmo is such a bundle of cuteness, that first photo is a truly, "aaaaaawww" pic. He looks so tiny! And cuddling up with Ewan is so sweet. I hope Ewan and Elmo and all the family can make lots of happy memories together for a long long time.

He is a super cute baby, Ewan looks pretty taken with him :-)

I'm so sorry to hear about Ellie. Who ever did it needs a good kick up the butt.

It looks like Ewan and Elmo have a great bond already.

Elmo is from Tamworth, a very kind lady gave Ewan Elmo when she found out what happened to Ellie. Ewan is planning on doing agiltiy and wants to join the Delta society and do Pets as Therapy and visit the aged care homes.

Thanks again for all your wonderful support and I reckon I would do more than kick them if I ever came across the murderers.
dandybrush
how do you get into the pets as therapy program?
micknmol
Dandy, go to http://www.deltasocietyaustralia.com.au/ and look at the pet partners link. They have assessments every 3 months in Sydney if you are from NSW then you must attend a day seminar as well when your dog has passed. You also need to commit to attending the place you are allocated for a large number of visit each year ( I think it was 40 weeks out of 52 when I did it a few years ago). While it sounds all good and a great thing to do it was the things such at the permanent commitment and compulsory bathing before each visit that I just could not commit to but understand why they have this.

Then again, bathing a Koolie would be pretty easy - just turn on the hose and let the games begin.

Been offline for a while, so sorry to hear about your devastating loss of Ellie. People are so cruel. Your new addition look very cute, and hope she settles in well with your pack both the fur and human kind.
