Allambie Alice was originally purchased by a gentleman in Newcastle and he has since been placed in a home with medical condition. Alice was handed into a vet in Newcastle to find a new home. Through microchip details Linda contacted me and together we are trying to find a new home for Alice. I will have current photos of her soon. She is a chocolate merle out of Sheringa Lady (Kelsey) by Sheringa Rex and was born 5 May 2009 so is just over 12 months old. From what we can understand she has had little or no training so is a bit of a wild child. Linda has been working with her so she is improving.
If anyone is interested can you please contact me on jaxh1966@bigpond.com for further details.

I'm hoping to go and see Alice tomorrow so might be able to get some pics (if she stays still). She's also in a home with children and other dogs and gets on well with both! I'll give further details after I've seen her.

I saw Alice today and took her for a little walk. She's very sweet and very pretty. A little shy of me first and ran away but she soon came back when I ignored her and played with the other dogs in the yard. Having treats also helped. She actually walked quite well for me on lead but it was very wet and I was also a stranger so that may well have stopped her from being silly. I did get a couple of kisses from her after our walk and I managed to snap a couple of photos but I had to put her on lead for this as she typically doesn't stay still!
Now to attach the photos. They are from my phone so not great quality I'm sorry. If I see Alice again next week I'll try for some better photos!

Yes, she's wearing a bark collar. The neighbours were complaining of barking, I think it is an air spray type.

should do, the people already have a beautiful blue merle Koolie and two kelpies so she will be in great company when she finally gets there.
Bekk who is getting Alice is trying to get onto the forum so no doubt she will join in the conversations in due course.

Thats great news and we look forward to seeing how she settles in. How did she find the spray collar? I tired one on Bug and the little cow will still bark through it. Thats hubby's only complaint with her is how much she barks but most of it is from pure excitement not frustration. Any suggestions?

micknmol i havent even discussed th ebarking with linda though i did see the collar so assumed she barked. I know she was playing up a bit in the back yard and destroyed hubbys tools or something.
With your dog barking out of excitement, do you have a crate? like a transportation crate, cover it with blankets so she cant see out (its best to face it in a direction so that you can leave the front uncovered, but facing away from things that will stimulate her. Then if she is barking and wont stop when asked put her in there for five until she settles, then when she is quiet let her out again, kind of like time out with a child, and her reward is being with you. I personally havent tried this method but i seen a lady using it the other day with a hypo shephard, seemed to do the trick. she has the crate set up right next to the back door.
My partners bull arab bitch is very vocal, but not so much barking more of this whining noise she makes when she is excited.

We have a barking problem with my partners ACD he is male and fights with my Koolie boys so he can't run with the main pack of which he is very jealous, hence the barking, he has a timeout cage, which works sometimes and not others. We have tried different bark collars with him but he just over rides them, I am trying to find a citronella one that I can try before buying to see if that works.
They don't stock them up here as they have no sale for them and are not willing to get one in in case I don't buy it. It is just a thought as he shuts up if I squirt water at him, but it is a pain to drop what I am doing and go over to his paddock and squirt him everytime he barks. Would be good if he carried his own!! haha

Lol Jackie, i was spraying around sonnys kennel yesterday with water wetting down before spraying for fleas and sonny kept trying to catch the water with his teeth.
You can get the citronella bark collars off ebay. I got a shock collar from tokyo it was cheap, not the best quality, they have a range of training devices but may be worth looking into a cheap one to see if the dog responds before spending big spondooly on a decent one. I got the shock collar for my 64kg wolfhound who would swing on the chain whenever i tied him up before i went somewhere (RIP, but father of my pup Blue), but i never had the heart to use it on him, lent it to a friend and never saw it again.

Well Alice is now safely home, she really is a beautiful dog, i must admit alot more than i was expecting and i was excited enough as it is, im just blown away.
Am looking forward to the next few days and really getting to know her. She has met sonny and the pups, and has had a brief meeting with remi the OH's Bull arab, im not sure what she thinks of the cat smokey when she first saw him she dropped to the ground lol.
There is so many things here that she clearly hasnt been exposed to, but she stands tall even though she is trembling and looks to us for reasurance. And she absolutley LOVES kids, which is awesome!
Ill put a photo up soon but i better get off here now i have checked my messages and spend some more time with her.

alice and blue

trying to keep her settled for now and not to omuch running around, she hurt her leg the day before she come up, but she should be right in a week or so. Has met all the other dogs without fuss except beau the kelpie and macey a bull arab i am looking after for a friend. will introduce her to beau when her leg is a bit better as i know they will go nuts together.
didnt bark at all last night so far is very well behaved but im sure she is still overwhelmed with all the changes.
Im not sure what she thinks of smokey our cat, when she first saw him she dropped to the ground, since then they have had a few sniffs at ea other, but when he is a distance a way she looks at him with excitement. she also looks a little excited over the birds and chooks but we will just see what happens
Absolutely loves the kids and is very gentle with them.

Linda rang me to tell me she had arrived safely. She admitted to feeling a little sad at leaving her at the airport alone so she was relieved to hear she had arrived safely!
I'd say Alice probably hasn't seen a cat before but I'd be really rewarding the calm behaviour because I bet when she gets a bit more comfortable she'll be wanting to be a bit more investigative!!
Hope she continues to settle in well and I look forward to hearing and seeing pics of how she's going!!

Thankyou for the advice bluedog, i will certainly take that on and is pretty much what i have been doing with her. the beauty of smokey is he wont run away, and its generally the thrill of the chase the dogs tend to love. Smokey is very arrogant, our bull arab remi like to chase cats, yet smokey chooses to drink out of her water bowl even though he has his own, and she doesnt touch him, i have even caught him sleeping in her kennel with her. He is my "guard cat" lol, doesnt let any strange cats near my avairies.
I took her for a hydrobath today, my friend runs a business that i may take on, anyway she also trains security dogs and has shephards, she spent five minutes with alice and is very impressed with her, thinks she is a very smart dog and extremely trainable.
