Full Version: Goodbye Chester
koolies - Coolies, One of the friendliest places on the Net... > Koolies > Rainbow Bridge
Flyingdog
Last week Chester took a fox bait and came to a tragic end. Chester was a blue merle who came to me from Canberra pound a few years ago. He loved life, took care of everyone and we miss him very much.

The neighbour is currently poisoning foxes with 1080 prior to lambing. A fox ran through our property last week in the late afternoon - Chester chased him and the fox must have dropped the bait on the way. It was a tragic accident. My other dogs are now wearing muzzles when out walking.

Goodbye dear boy - hope we meet again sometime.

...So sorry to hear about Chester......

It is tragic to hear of your loss and unfortunate in the extreme how it occured. Unfortunately dogs will be dogs and however much it hurts when something like this happens we have to remember that we wouldn't want to change them.

You and your family are in out thoughts.

Terribly sorry to hear, he was a lovely boy! But you gave him a lot of extra life and good times he never would have had if you had left him in that pound. I'm sure he is grateful.

Poor Chester... that is horrible.

I hope he enjoys his life over the rainbow bridge as much as he enjoyed his life with you.

My thoughts are with you.

That stuff should be banned!

My thoughts exactly. Its one more thing to watch out for with the dogs. Chester replaced my last blue merle - Skye - who was bitten by a snake and died - we later managed to trap the snake as it was living next to the house. Not a lot of luck with blue merle koolies and they were both such characters - heaps of personality but both were flying dogs if you know what I mean and they took a while to settle down but when they did they were great companions and then they were taken so I dont know what to make of it.

I will miss Chester - especially since I was with you when you picked him up from the pound - just a lovely boy and you two gave him some happy years.

Try not to read into it too much Flyingdog. I know its hard, and you have every right to be angry and upset, you have had a really bad run of bad luck, happens to us all at times and its not fair but i dont think their is any hidden meaning to it all. Try and focus on the joy of his life and the fun you shared together. Chester was a special boy and im sure he knew it, and he had a happy life and memories with you. Focus on that. I know its easy for me to say im not in your shoes. Hugs mate.

sad to hear of his passing and in such a unexpected way. My thoughts are with you

I'm so sorry to hear you lost Chester, That bloody 1080 is awful stuff. I thought NZ was the only country still using it. It is banned in a lot of countries.

Anyway, you have my deepest sympathy. :-(

Terribly sorry to hear of your Chester's death. Hold his memories close.
