Last night's news reported on the DNA genome project on the Tamar (not sure of spelling) Wallaby project. Incredibly the wallaby has 70% of it's genes common to human genes. One of the things they are studying is that tiny baby wallabys (naked and and as small as a mouse) have similar lung developement to a premature baby, yet the wallaby breaths for itself with no problems, how can they adapt that to premi care?
Also from news through the dairy industry for the same reasons they are studying the components of wallaby milk to make better qualitiy baby formula. Unfortunately when they saught funding from the dairy industry to study the DNA of a wallaby they forgot to publicise the fact of the 70% common genes and there was uproar in the industry over "leaders" commiting funding to such a project.
