It is with the heaviest of hearts that I post on this board. We have lost our oldest and dearest friend; Chelsea, our Sheltie past from us last night.

She was fifteen years old and had been a constant companion, friend and confident to me for those fifteen years. My husband also shares in this tremendous loss for he had the joy of thirteen of those years with her. She holds a special place of honor in our hearts. She was no great herding dog, she would not fetch or play with toys, she would not roll over or bring the paper. Actually she did no great tricks at all but what she did was offer me her quite devoted love. Wherever I was, in whatever room I was in she was close at hand. She could not rest if she could not see me. She could not settle if she was not in my presence. She had a loyalty that is not easily described.

The best way to describe Chelsea was she had a soft grace about her. Even as a puppy she was settled, having grown up with a dog that was in it’s twenties. She was easy with little animals and often watched over or protected many of the orphaned or abandoned animals I took to raise. She loved to be outside. She loved to lay in the green grass, in the sunshine and enjoy watching whatever outdoor activity we were engaged in. She enjoyed just being a part of what was going on by watching. She was a loved by everyone that saw her. She was a joy to have in our lives and she is going to be missed deeply. There is a void in hearts that will never be filled with her passing.

My dearest Chelsea possessed Beauty without Vanity, Strength with out Insolence, Courage without Ferocity, and all the Virtues of Man Without his Vices.

Please accept our most heartfelt sympathies to you for your loss of Chelsea. Fifteen years is such a wonderful age, but it never gets easier to say goodbye. Doggy heaven must be a wonderful place, with all our friends that are already there, she is in good company.

Thank you for the warm thoughts and prayers for the loss of my girl. To make matters much worse, the day after Chelsea's passing, while getting up 800 bails of hay, I fell and shattered my arm. Surgery, 4 pins and lots of pain meds I am just now getting back to the computer. Thanks for everything. Recovery is going to be long and slow but I will get there.
