I have heard that some of you have had difficulties getting on the board and some asking after posts that seem to have disappear, while others wonder why they haven't received replies.
This board is only as good as the patience of the members and admin, both put great effort into making this place an enjoyable and safe place, we all have other lives and sometimes those other lives interrupt our enjoyment in participating in witty conversation, or deep provoking issue, or thought producing ideas, and sometimes we can't get on, so we email and ask around and finally we do get on and the world is wonderful, we certainly don't run around bagging the board and spewing flames about being shut out or god forbid ostracized, no one would ever be put off the board without a kind helpful warning. prof.gif
Sometimes replies are delayed and we do apologies for getting distracted, try sending a personal email to the one you want to reply, even another post just checking to see if your all alive Hiya2.gif
And those post which just have gone, two things think carefully before you put your thoughts to paper, possibly read the section on friendly posting, or like me the board crashed and we went back in time to August I think, lost some of my best works and no back up, by me, luckily Admin did have a back up board, so most of you hopefully didn't notice.
But keep the faith and keep posting, this really is the friendliest place on the net, looking forward to catching up with you, welcoming you and being here for you. group.gif
Want to post but can't think of anything, then post an updated photo of your Koolie or your friends Koolie or the other pet, we are just mad about photos, post about your holidays, your trips, your adventures but not your love life funny.gif
Always remember this board and those who are here belong to the family of the Koolie Community brought together by the love of their Koolies and shared interest, beer.gif so I guess that makes you family, cousin biggrin.gif kewldude.gif

Thank you both for posting this here. Not everyone is as computer savvy, I am not and sometime we just get a bit impatient. Keep us reined in… we need it….

This board is only as good as those who use it…. So let us use it folks….. those of us here in the USA need to learn all we can from you “blokes” (hope I got that one right). You are the experts, years more hands on experience…. So share, share, share…..and we will absorb, absorb, absorb……..

Hello, I am a new member having just rescued a Koolie from the pound. His name is Pablo and he settled in immediately, as if we were his original owners. He's about five we think. How do I post a picture?

Thank you for your inquiry.
Regarding your very charming looking fellow, thank you so much for offering him a second chance at a wonderful life. biggrin.gif
:prof:As to whether he is pure, first define what is pure, if you are asking could he be from a long line of dogs which look like him, it is possible, a DNA test could be used to check his parentage, his DNA could be checked against those on a data base for parentage.
If you are asking me to voice an opinion as to the breed of your dog,question1.gif at first glance he coloring looks like he could have Australian Shepherd influence, his feature could be influenced by Border Collie and he looks well fed, strange that he should come from a pound, but I guess no one is safe.
I have seen Koolies which look like this as well as Welsh sheepdogs.
If you were seeking membership with the Koolie club of Australia vkool.gif he would be registered in their pet section and called a Koolie, but this doesn't indicate his bloodline.
As you can see the question of purity is open to interpretation.
The Koolie Club of Australia and Tjukurpa steer away from the use of the word pure to describe our chosen breed, a pure breed is a recognized breed used in conformation, the Koolie is not this. spank.gif
We prefer to use the term generation bred, then there is no confusion.
The Koolie club of Australia have registered koolies that are many generation bred, which breed true to type, each generation sharing similarities with those generations before. group.gif
Does this prove their purity!, purity of what!, color, form, ability, type.
I am afraid that even with further information on your dogs personality, ability, temperament etc my response would still be only an opinion.
I would be asking question like is he everything you ever wanted in a companion, best mate, has he become part of the family, who you love to spend time with, who you take with you every where you go, are you inseparable.
Is he the best decision you have ever made.
If your answer is yes, then you have a pure 100% terrific dog there and you know how lucky you are, because I can tell he sure knows how lucky he is. ThumbUP.gif
If you would like to gain some more opinions of the breed influences of your boy pop onto the Koolie Forum post his photo and ask the same question you sent me, there are lots of very friendly owners and breeders who would love to chat about him, and you will get some great information on the Koolie while your there.
there are no negative personalities and it's fun. happy.gif
For the record I think you have a dog who can handle a world of hugs.

thankyou2.gif for allowing me to post your question.

He is a very attractive fellow with beautiful eyes and an intelligent expression. His head type and coloration could easily be identified as an Australian Shepherd. However, I saw a picture of a Koolie from the 70s that also resembled him. It appears that he has a medium length coat. Does he have any undercoat? Probably not much if this is summer down under. It might be beneficial to see a full body shot to better recogize identifying characteristics.

Seeing the Pablo in action would be most helpful because there are certain indicators in behavior that might reveal more information. Generally speaking, when comparing Aussies to Border Collies... Aussies have a strong desire to work (if they are from working lines), but their number one priority is their family. They have much stronger guardian instincts also. They are keepers of the flock, heart and home. Borders are more work oriented (usually)and not very protective. Naturally, there are exceptions to the rule.

Never the less, whatever his past may be - He is handsome and appears devoted with "what can I do for you attitude." The very best kind.

Hiya2.gif He's just ....too gorgeous for words...what an expressive, intelligent face. How he could have been in the pound is beyond me...how any animal could be is beyond me question1.gif Don't you just want to group.gif hug them forever????
