Ok have any of yous ever had a close enough look at your Koolies teeth?
If you have then post, if you have got or any or your pups have had two sets of upper and lower canines at the same time.
The jaw is not at fault, but the baby teeth have come through, then the adult teeth have come though directly beside them on the inside instead of underneath them to dislodge them.
It's easy to over look, because unless the mouth becomes sore, there is nothing to indicate that anything is wrong, after a casual look into the mouth you might be forgiven for mistaking double canines for dirty teeth, but look closer.
Now I want to know is this a genetic or inherent problem and if so can it be breed away from.
Looking for input people and records need to be kept if this is not uncommon in Koolies.
So get up close and personal and post what you find. ThumbUP.gif

Hi

I think it might be a "doggy" thing, have had a few koolies do it, but also chihauhaus (notorously bad mouths) and a a couple of chi x mini foxies. My concern would only be if the babies didn't drop out in a reasonable time. Job for a good meaty bone I think.

Interested to hear others experiences also.

cool thanks guys, I never had it in Dobys, I feed the guys on bones and hard dry feed, and yet these teeth seem as firm as the adult ones only discolered, I have an owner in SA her Koolie from me has the same complaint, but it looks like she will need surgery to remove the teath, let you know more when I hear from her.
My boy's not having any problems with his, just wanted to know if it was something I needed to be concerned about.
If the owner hadn't given me the heads up, I probably would never have noticed.
Thanks for the input

Koolie in SA didn't need surgery, she is copeing quite well and is feeding her lots of good bones, it will be interesteing to record when or if our guys do loose those baby canines, keep you posted.

WIll let you know in a few weeks, thanks for the heads up on it, to check and look. Can't say I recalled it with ACDs but I recall the Aussie terriers dropping teeth about before the adults ones showed through but the come through quickly in small dogs.

My guy has since dropped his baby teeth, let you know how the SA one gets on.
