Good morning. Hopefully, I have not overloaded you with links to reading material (but considering you can check them out at your leisure) I decided to share one that I find the particularly interesting. The photo illustrates pigment cells (melanocytes) migrating down from the neural crest cells along the brain and spinal column.

As a point of reference: don't confuse the white caused from genes that produce white trim in breeds like Koolies and Aussies and the missing pigment Sheila Schmutz mentions that would be caused by the dam having a cold during the gestational period.

There are tons of interesting genetic sites, but as I mentioned before...Dr. Schmutz's site provides some of the most current, authoritative, yet easy to understand information on the web.
