Hi

Thought I might as well start a post in the Photos section from our trip. Am slowly starting to sort through, crop, resize etc. so they are presentable.

Hope you enjoy these and will add to them when time permits, they will also be available in the gallery. aussie.gif

Hi all,

Just a thought, would it be possible to have some backgroung on the dogs in these photo's.

Looks like you have taken some good photo's on your trip (holiday) again.

I must invest in a new camera or upgrade my skills the later most likely so that I can add some good photo's also as most of mine aren't very good.
I just can't get my dogs to stand still.

Hiya2.gif No problems with details: Chance is Tjukurpa Kool Chance owned by Michelle Wilkins one of our NSW committee members, they have been doing quite a bit of training and I think have started trialing.

Lilly is a lovely young dog belonging to one of our new members from near Canberra, she is working goats very well. Her owners saved her from the Yass pound but have some information on her possible breeders and are trying to follow that up, they are keen to get DNA results back in the hope of seeing who's dogs they may be related to also.

This is Dylan belonging to Ken & Trudy in Sydney, Dylan is a rescue who was badly abused and beaten and came to Ken & Trudy with a broken jaw. It hasn't taken much time and patience at all for Dylan to bloom and is now working very well. Click to view attachmentClick to view attachment

This is Roxie, another rescue belonging to Ken & Trudy. Trudy has put many hours of patience into an extremely active, full on dog and has come up trumps with a dog that not only works, but does obedience and some great tricks. Roxie is a great example of what you can achieve when you take the time to understand your dogs own special personality then adapting your training to it's needs. Click to view attachment Roxie took a little while to understand pushing up the sheep so Trudy would get at the back with her...and push the sheep. Ok, says Roxie I've got it now..Click to view attachment aussie.gif

PS Jack...sssshhh...don't let on it was a holiday...we were W O R K I N G....

We are so fortunate to have you and Tjukurpa as the public relation ambassadors for the Club and the breed. I am so looking forward to Tjukurpa and her mob coming to the states to visit…. USApatriot.gif

[b]Hi I am Trudy the owner well looker after of Roxie. dogwalk.gif I am part of the NSW committee and I do the Rescue of the Koolie in my area. I must say Ann and Kerrie only got a little lost this time coming to me, last time Kerrie came she got very lost, so Kerrie is getting much better at finding her way around NSW. Great idea.gif Roxie competed at the Mudgee small farm field day yard trial. We did a great cast and pick up and had the sheep yarded in no time. But a few weeks before that Roxie had had avery bad time with a sheep who had hit her three time. Roxie had lost her nerve, so in the trial one sheep had a go at her, and she just pack it in. So I am working on getting up to the ferless koolie she was. Will try another trail in a few months time, fingers cross we do ok, if not we have fun. Trudy. roflmao.gif

Hi Trudy

I would like to offer some help.

It seems to me if your dog has lost it's nerve you should refrain from trialing until such time that your dog's confidence has been restored.
If your dog now has another altercation with a sheep it may never want to work again.

You need to find some younger lambs that are used to being worked by dogs and start with a few sheep in a small yard. If Roxie doesn't put these sheep into a corner of this yard then grab a sheep by the head and shake it from side to side whilst encouraging the dog to help. This usually helps.
Make sure that whatever happens you don't say NO to the dog as this may be seen as I am not allowed to do this anymore.
You could after this try working Roxie together with another hard dog that may also give more confidence.

I have never had a Koolie that was abused by a beast surrender but they do initially back down only to go back in harder.

could it be that because you were in a trial setting this was not allowed to happen.
If this was the case you need to let this happen with plenty of encouragment from yourself amd possible assistance from yourself.

hope this helps
