Hi everyone… hello1.gif

Sorry I have been away from the forum for a while…. Been so busy with work and the farm….. We had a sick horse that took all of our time…. getwells.gif

We thought it was laminitis (founder) and went through extensive treatment. We did daily IV DMSO treatments, packed the legs and hooves in gauze; we did x-rays and ultra-sound treatments…. Nothing seemed to be working notworking.gif and he was having a harder and harder time walking.

It ended up after two weeks of this aggressive treatment to be a hoof abscess. I have never been so pleased to see pus in my life…. bravo.gif We did a happy dance once the abscess ruptured. eusadance.gif woohoo.gif

Then it was three weeks of soaking in Epson salts twice a day for an hour. That meant I had to get up at 3:00 a.m. to soak his foot before I went to work… sleepingdream.gif then I would have to pack the hole with a drawing save and wrap the hoof up. Now on normal sized horses this is not too much trouble but on a 2100 lb (over a ton) Belgian draft horse with hooves the size of salad plates it too a great deal.

We are finally on the road to recovery and I am finally trying to catch up on some sleep….. cloud9.gif cloud9.gif cloud9.gif

So missed everyone... glad to be back!!!!
