I am having so much fun.... I have been going through all of my favorite sites and saved documents on Canine care and treatments and have been just posting like crazy.... everyone can benefit from them I think.... we all have things that work.... we need to share....bighug.gifbighug.gifbighug.gif

This one is from my sister. Her fiancé is an Arson Investigator and he works with an Arson Dog from the Charlotte NC Fire Department. An Arson dog is a dog that detects fire accelerants. dog21.gif These dogs work by detecting and being alert to even the smallest trace of petroleum-based fuel. As with other dogs whose work may be used in a court case, the handler’s role is critical to the effectiveness of the dog in finding evidence that can detect a fire’s cause and bring the criminal to justice. It is because of this sensitivity that I have been told they have to maintain a super clean coat.suck_kr.gif Most of these dogs are of a super smooth short hair coat variety and often have an oily smelly coat after a period of time.

So I thought I would pass on what they make to use on their dogs. My sister currently uses it on her two dogs that are in house. She says that they stay smelling fresh and clean for almost 3 weeks and they do not have an oily coat.smile.gif

This is what the Arson Task Force Team with the Charlotte Fire Department use to keep their working dogs smelling clean and free from oily skin.

The recipe is for ½ gallon of shampoo.

* Murphys Oil Soap - 16 oz

* Aloe Vera Gel - 16 oz
(Liquid works better but very hard to find)

* Witch Hazel - 4 tablespoons

Mix the ingredients then add enough HOT water to mix and dissolve the solution. Once mixed, top off to ½ gallon of liquid.

So if you have short coats and sometimes they get a bit oily or smelly you might want to try this..... dogwalk.gif Hope it helps…… USApatriot.gif

Not sure if this will help but Wal-Mart & Target carry it in the USA and it can be ordered online....

I like it because it is non-toxic and natural.....

"Murphy Oil Soap is a safe, naturally gentle soap, specially formulated for cleaning wood floors, furniture, and other household surfaces. It is a water based Pure Vegetable Oil Soap. It leaves your home smelling fresh and clean. Murphy's contains no harsh detergents, ammonia, or bleach."

Can be used on a number of surfaces and the Arson Task Forces Uses it on thier dogs.... non-toxic & safe around pets and Children....

There is also a recipe for a Spray for Powdery Mildew on plants....

Mix 1 gallon warm water with 3 TBS baking soda and 1 TBS Murphy's Oil Soap. Spray plants as soon as you see a grayish coat on the leaves. Spray every 7 to 10 days until daytime temperatures go up to 70 degrees. On plants with chronic powdery mildew problems (bee balm, phlox) use this spray as a preventive. Spray once or twice in early spring before it appears. If you notice it, remove all affected leaves, spray with this solution, prune or trim to improve air circulation, and make sure the plants are not stressed by other problems like drought. Stressed plants are susceptible to diseases and pests.

Plants are super sensitive so it has to be safe.....

thanx.gif So I guess any water based pure vegetable oil soap would suffice here...that would be Velvet soap, people.
