Thanks this will mean no more emptying the ducted container in the garage after every vaccum to make sure there are no more "jumpy bites".

"Mint" is a flea deterent,
If you put mint leaves in your vaccuum bag it will kill fleas & they wont be spreading anywhere.
Also hang mint plants in a hanging basket it your kennel runs or plant in your dog yard/area & it will keep the little narsties away!!!!

why not buy some wintergreen oil it kills fleas and eggs for three mths just make up a bucket of water with 1/4 teaspoon of wintergreen oil in it and sponge it on to your dogs do not get into their eyes and use some of the mix to spray their kennels and your house no more fleas and it's much cheaper then frontline i got some on the weekend for $5.30 a bottle

Sounds great, but where would I likely find Wintergreen ... from a health shop???
I have used all types of flea rid products, a lot of which worked previously, but don't now. So at this point I will give anything a go. Not that I have a lot, but just enough to be a pest.
My dogs already where tick collars (Kiltik) which I change every month and frontline, advantix or advantage depending on what is available every month and are washed in Fido's Flea free weekly.
So my dogs seem to be walking chemical factories!! and would be less expensive if I could drop the flea products.

You can order winter green oil through your health food store, it is not a product that they will normaly have on the shelf.
It does have a strong smell but it does fade.
We use carosine(not sure of the spelling) because we have floor boards and nothing brings them up like carosine but it sure pongs out the place, I make sure I do it on windy days, helps a lot, it also kills fleas.
I like winter green oil because you can put it onto the dogs, we do a lot of traveling so it protects them when they come in contact with other animals as well.
Bit thanks to Royalla for the tip
If I vacuumed I would use your tip Karolina but it's in the cupboard and that's where it will stay.
Lovely to see your still droping by.

Got some Wintergreen from the Health Shop so will try tonight. If I mop the puppy pen will it bother them if it is dry when they are put back in.
Mikk the charming girl took them all up to the shed for the day and I found them under the wood pile and they have picked up a few fleas which I have now rid them of, but would like to make sure they didn't drop any of the pesky critters in their room puppy area to multiply and become a future pest...

No problems JackieH so long as it's dry.
All the best, let us know how you get on
