Hi Guys
We had our first games trial held last night in very strong winds. It was like a winter night. Xena was in her first excellence games and to get YOur title you must pass 5 times. We competed in gamblers and got our first leg and Xena got third yah its a quali pepper.gif and in stratejic pairs I qualifies with my friend Jackie and her dog Georgie so that was our first leg as well and we got a second yah pepper.gif but than we failed snooker she was working brilliantly until the closing sequence and than she decided to jump off the scramble which disqualified us. In 2 weeks time we will be in a double games trial so hopefully there will be a couple more passes
cheers

Hey Danni:
I know the games are great and very exciting to watch as well as participate in.
We were lucky to catch up with several of our members in Northern Nsw when they ran the games up there last year in November.
But not everyone here is savy to what your crowing about.
How about you go through and explain the finer details and points which can be scored and the titles to achieve.
Concrads on your achievment, that Xena is a beauti.

Hi Guys Hiya2.gif
To know all of the rules properly for the games its best to write agilitysa click events and click games and it will explain everything. I'm still learning myself and get confused especially in snooker
We have three games and they are stratejic pairs ( where you do have to compete with another person as a team) snooker and gamblers. with these 3 games you get titles and you also have 3 levels each level gets harder the levels are novice excellent and masters.
SNOOKER (SD) in novice you must get 3 passes to qualify for this title.
You do an opening sequence - you must jump a red jump do a colour a red jump a colour and a red jump and another colour and than a closing sequence. In a course the judge sets out there is usually only 3 bars sometimes 4 if the judge is generous they are the red jump and they are valued as 1 point than the colours would be ranked 2-7 each obstacle would have a point system eg weavers 7 points tunnel 6 points dog walk 5 points tyre 4 points scramble 3 points broad jump 2 points The aim in the opening sequence is to get enough points to qualify which is in novice 10 points you have so many seconds to get your points and to do your closing sequence. So for example you do a red (bar jump) 1 point colour (weavers) 7 points a red 1 point colour (weavers) 7 points a red 1point and a colour (weavers) 7 points so that gives you 24 points the maximum (you dont have to do weavers you can do anything you can do them once or repeat them doesnt matter as long as you get your points you than do the closing sequence ( which is a set of equipment that the judge puts out that starts from 2points to 7 points in a sequence so your first jump for the sequence would be broad jump scramble tyre dog walk tunnel and weavers (in this case)so thats snooker once you qualified in that three times you go in excellent you must qualify 5 times and than you go to masters and you must qualify 7 times as I said before as you go up in gets harder and the time gets less.
GAMBLERS Gamblers is quite easy pieces of equipment are certain points dog walk scrambles (contacts) are three points tyre tunnels are 2 points and bar jumps 1 point you have 45 seconds to score as many points ( your dog can go out of control and you can still pass)( if dog misses contact that fine you just dont get points not like in snooker you miss the contact and you failed) when the siren goes off you must go to the gamble which is basically doing distance work which is five jumps. As you go higher the time is quicker and your gamble is quicker and you do it a bit further in distance. You have three levels novice excellent and master and the same amount of passes like before
STRATEJIC PAIRS This is a bit harder as you work with another person and dog and you watch each other you do sections of the course and you must have one change over if the dog has made a mistake the other team member must do that before you can continue on. You must be ready when your team member is finished the section that you are off and not waiting around. Once you sort of muck up you start laughing and then everything goes wrong but if you can do it without making a mistake it does go smoothly.
So there you have it the new agility games that has only just started for SA Xena and I will be competing on Saturday night so hopefully there will be more qualies zpls.gif or:win:

I'll pin the rules so anyone can read them if they are interested.
Agility games are run in Vic, Nsw, S.A.
I don't believe Qld has goten off the mark yet.
If anyone knows of other states which are holding Agility games please post to let us know.
Could you give us a link to the S.A website Danni, much appreciated.

Hi Guys
We did have a games trial last night Stratejic pairs gamblers and snooker Only did well in one class and that was snooker and got a first place winner.gif excited.gif
The other snooker we ran out of time by .01 sec and one of our gamblers by .01 sec if that her feet didn't reach the ground when the buzzer went off and stratejic pairs well that was a complete disaster. We had 37 degrees yesterday but by the time the trial started it was a nice evening went very late I think that would be one reason when we did one of our stratejic pair event was 12.30 am and my partner and I were half asleep and our dogs just went crazy. sleepingdream.gif
WA also has games as well and I thought some of Queensland have it as well but not many games like NSW as some of those guys are already into master levels and as SA guys we are still in excellent
If you want to read up on some of these rules go to www.agilitysa.com and there is on the left rules for agility jumpers and games and if you press nationals you will see a picture of my girl Xena
cheers

Lawson Legend
Sounds like fun Pup.gif Diello.gif I will have to suss this out as I think Lawson would love it...jumping, jumping and more jumping...sound right up his alley beer.gif So is it agility or a diffretn form of agility question1.gif I'm condused now ziknow.gif What's new.
dannimilo
Hi Lawson
Last year the new rules came into force I just wrote about the games and Tjukurpa had said in the previous post about some people not knowing what I was talking about so I put that link on so people can read it. Last year they had a new class which was agility dog open and jumping dog open which is open to all dogs and than they have the excellent class which is for dogs that have come out of novice and go into that class which was the old open. master dogs cannot go into excellent at all but anyone can go into open. Excellent class is also a bit easier than open and in open you will have a distance challenge in there and you cant step over the line or you will be disqualifed. The new games came into effect last year as well SA has only just started to put out games trial at the moment to raise some money for the Nationals and at the moment we are in a christmas break well we sort of started training Friday night at one club and the other one doesn't start till the end of Feb. It's great except in the games you have to use your head and work out the best course where agility and jumping the judge works it out and you just follow the numbers. But you are right it's fun and frustrating yesno.gif and the dogs just absolutely love it my girls just love it and my 13 year old kelpie still wants to do it but I don't compete with her anymore she just gets a putter when I go to training and she just loves it
so there you have it jump.gif
cheers

yes the backward state does have some games we have snooker and gamblers and a couple of others at our aada agility comps but i don't know about the cccq they are a bit thick in a lot of things lol i was at a aada training camp last weekend with gypsy the shi tzu. spice could not go as she is on heat it was a great weekend and some of our training was on the games.gypsy got the 18 points up in snooker before the buzzer went off and we were in the right place for the home run which she was to work wide from me she turned into a pice of velcro and stayed on my side of the line d.gif

Are any of these games something we could modify for our fun day in May? Remember most of our dogs are either farm or companion, so we need something they can have a go at on the day. We had a great day last year with much hilarity.
dannimilo
Yep I think you can do both novice gamblers and snooker with new people. Snooker you must remember to do a red (bar) and than a colour which could be a tunnel broad jump or anything and has value like the tunnel could be 5 points. Than you do another red (bar) another colour another red and another colour. It must make 10 points (so if the tunnel is 5 points you would get 18 points 5 points for tunnel x3 bar jump x3 =18 and than you do the closing sequence which is 2 straight lines or what ever that goes 2 3 4 5 6 7 and that gives you points when you have completed it. Each obstacle has a point whatever the judge decides on weavers could be 7 points dogwalk 6 points tunnels 5 points etc etc The gamble is basically do anything to gain points through the 45 seconds that you have ie contacts are worth 3 points weavers are 4 points bars are worth 1 point tunnels and tyres and broadjumps are worth 2 points and when the buzzer blows which you would want to be near the gamble you do the gamble in 15 seconds I think and that gives you another 10 points I think. The gamble is distance work which you could do what ever for your distance. Its fun good luck
cheers

ok just reading all about your agility games ? who are these games with ADAA or canine control councl i do agility with ADAA and we do snooker and gamblers plus jumpers and agility trials. jumpers and the agility are the main trials with the games beening second choice to try for points. beginer dogs must get two clear runs to move up to Intermediate you then need 4 clear runs to go up again to open. clear runs means no faults if you get a fault then it gos on your time as well to see were you are placed 1st 2nd or third. four fualts and you are out for that run. you lose 5 points for each fault and if you do a wrong course you are out.i think the ccc are not as hard on their rules ?
dannimilo
Hi Royalla
It is run with ANKC rules and state bodies we probably have different heights than ADAA. In SA we are not allowed to run ADAA I dont know why. We have 5 different heights 200,300,400,500,600 height and the classes are AD agility dog title and JD jumping title. you need 3 passes under the standard course time (sct) and clear (have and time faults or cause faults you dont qualify) Once you have that title you can jump to the next class which is ADX agility dog excellent and JDX jumping dog excellent and you need 5 passes and than there is ADM agility dog master and JDM jumping dog master title and you need 7 passes there is also another title that you may enter in novice and it is called open and that is what the name suggests its open to all competitors doesnt matter what he or she is qualified to do but is much harder as you have distance work so you can get ADO agility dog open and JDO jumping dog open. And if you are really really good you can also go for Agility Champion title and to get that you must qualify 20 JDM and 20 ADM legs and 10 of both ADM and JDM must be 1st places and the other 10 of both may be either 2nds or 3rds. So it is very hard to get. I have got Xena her Agility Champion title and am slowly going through it with Inka have only to get 6 more 1st in ADM and 4 more 1st in JDM its going to be a hard slog though to get those 1st places to beating the good dogs Than you go through the games title which is also run by ANKC I hope that helps
cheers
